Sounds like you just got a bad unit. Its a shame but it happens with all 3 consoles. I run my ps3 almost daily with games and Folding@Home and no problems so far. There was an article posted out how they put a PS3 in a fridge for 24hrs and then a sauna for 24hrs and the thing didnt crash once. So hopefully you will have better luck.

So did you buy a model with a PS2 chip in it or was it the new one without it?

Warhawk should be your first buy.

Its pretty sad that so both Sony and MS ship units that are faulty. MS's is worse obviously. Its just so shocking. Really poor manufacturing/designing of the hardwares mechanical performance.

Well with any product you are going to get defectives every now and again. Sony seems to have kept its defective % in line with normal electronic item rates. Microsoft simply has not.
