I was thinking that in places like Africa, when 50 Cent first came out his name was spreading like wildfire (or AIDS if you will) once everyone heard about this black guy who was making millions of dollars off white people in the U.S. I assumed he would reach God-like status to those in poverty. All my drug dealing friends think Young Jeezy and 50 are cool, so I can only imagine the effect he has on REAL poor people.

You guys are all wrong. 99% of Eastern Europe and Asia has never heard of Oprah. On the other hand, rap music is popular everywhere, and so a certain percentage of 12-30 year old will know who 50 Cent is.

It's obviously Oprah in N.America and especially among a particular demographic, but I'm not convinced that it's true world wide. If you walked down a street in Prague, Seoul, Nairobi, or La Paz, and asked people I think 50 Cent would come out ahead.

I wish there were some way to get legit stats for these things to open up some sort of betting. The google fight thing should heavily favor 50 cent, as the age group that would have heard of him is far more likely to be looking at the web sites that he's mentioned on, and he's a big loser.
If I change my activities on like 3 days of my life, -I- never hear of 50 cent. Oh, and I wasn't trying to be condescending with the quotes around 50 cent in the original googlefight post. That's how I entered the name, or else It'd have been counting every mention of the number 50, the word cent, and half dollars. This sentence has been brought to you by Sesame Street.
