Default Dealing with breaks

Looking for a little advice here. I am running a home poker league. Only 8 people. No limit, blinds increase every 20 mins. Start out really slow, and close to double.
1 rebuy must be before round 4 starts. Break after round 3 and round 6.

Anyhow, I run the league downstairs in my basement. There's no smoking downstairs. I have a few smokers who play and go normally on breaks only. Two weeks ago many insisted on going whenever they wanted, break or no break. They all figured they could just post a blind and stand up if they wanted. I don't want to be a dictator, but should this be allowed? What is the standard rule about leaving the table? It also seriously slows down the game.

Then deal him a hand and fold him when the action is to him and he's not back.

Or take some chips off his stack, whichever.

[/ QUOTE ] This would be extremely stupid and unethical. Post and fold only. We do this if a regular is running late.

Okay. So I guess I want to make sure that it's perfectly exceptable for people to constantly leave the table during play. And If I have 3 of 6 or 3 of 7 (on a night where a guy doesn't show) getting up to smoke at the same time....just continue to post and fold?

If half the people in your tournament want more frequent breaks, then maybe you should have more frequent breaks. Home games should be accomodating the the wishes of their players, or the players will stop coming.

But if they are just getting up in the middle of a round, then just treat them as folding every hand. Their loss.

Yeah, and make sure you treat them like [censored] for smoking, too Smokers hate that.
