Re: \'Roy Rounder\' -Who is he, and is his advice legit?
As someone else said, this guy's real name is Rory Monahan. Somehow, I got subscribed to his email newsletter a really long time ago to one of the dummy email addresses I use to fill out online forms (so I don't get spam at my real one).
At one point, he explained that he ceased using his real name. I checked the email and I still had his explanation from August 1, 2005. Here it is: "I'm going to begin using a PEN NAME from now on for my website, newsletters, and books. My new pen name will be "Roy Rounder". No longer will you get emails from "Rory Monahan". Don't worry... don't worry... I'm still "me". The thing is, the Internet is such a wild and crazy place, I'd rather not have my real name floating around everywhere. LET ME REPEAT THAT... *** FROM NOW ON I'LL BE KNOWN AS ROY ROUNDER-- NOT RORY MONAHAN. *** How did I get the name "Roy Rounder"? It's simple. You see, my nickname is "Rounder" at the poker tables. That's what many of my poker friends call me. I got this nickname from all those YEARS of playing poker and GRINDING it out... making my living going from one place to the next. And many times, when I'd walk into a room of strangers and introduce myself, everyone would think my name was "Roy" instead of "Rory". So after awhile, "Roy Rounder" just started to STICK." |

Re: \'Roy Rounder\' -Who is he, and is his advice legit?
FWIW, this guy had a column in the most recent issue of CardPlayer (Eli Elizra is on the cover).
The column was about how to play AK in late position and it was, to be honest, very basic. |
