You all realize that in no-limit, one hand will take out all of your stack, right? In fact, at this stage of a NL tournament, a lot of players would be short enough that they would be putting in all of their stack by the second round of betting.

Yes I do realize that one hand in NL can take out all of your stack. That's missing the point though. It's about the relative size of the blinds vs the stacks. You can have 200 times the big blind, and lose all of it in one NL hand. But that's not what I'm arguing. What I'm arguing is that most of the stacks today don't even have 10 times the BB. 10 times the BB is the standard "short stack" in NL.

Do you know how often you play that "one hand" in NL? You shouldn't be playing that "one hand" that often. Sure, when you're shortstacked you gotta push in, but when you're shortstacked in limit it's the same thing, you're committed to whatever hand you play to 3rd or 4th street pretty much.

However, playing pots that cost 4 Big BETS happen FREQUENTLY in limit (due to draws and such; nature of the game) so you can regularly can go bust even with 16 Big BETS.

But how often should you be pushing/calling all-in with 15 Big BLINDS in NL? Not nearly as often.

this is always the way it is at the end of limit events, that is why they used to switch to NL at the end.

but that's the thing ... it's NOT the end yet. today is suppose to go from 21 - 8, and it's suppose to last the whole day. i personally think it'll take 2 hours.

and by the time it's the final table tomorrow, everybody will have like 10 times the BB. small even if they're playing NL.

Just because "this is always the way it is" doesn't mean people should accept it. It's called improving and adapting.

If players are forking up $50K, instead of giving them catered dinners, why not let them actually get more PLAY out of the tourney.

Yes, it'll be drawn out, but it's a 5 day event. At the rate it's going, they'll only play 35 hours or so. That's normally only 3 days in any other huge NL tournament and this is supposed to be a HUGE tournament.
