PS 10 disgusting QQ hand
I know I played this quite poorly, and need to get better at poker. I'd like to know, though, where exactly I screwed up. At what point should I have stopped thinking "overpair = ship monies!" and started thinking "oh [censored], he could actually have 67 or AA here?"

Re: PS 10 disgusting QQ hand
cap preflop but the rest is ok. 88+ makes up most of his range after he 3-bets the flop.

cap preflop. you beat exactly nothing on the river. [/ QUOTE ] Since we didnt cap preflop I dont think hes gonna put us on an overpair here and could be playing JJ or TT the same. |

cap preflop. you beat exactly nothing on the river. [/ QUOTE ] How can you say this with no reads on villain and getting 12:1 at the river? TT/JJ are not unreasonable for an aggro villain and there's always the random horribly misplayed AJ, etc. |

Villain seemed reasonably tight, the only hand he'd shown down was AK for TPTK against a donkey's horribly misplayed 44. |

cap preflop. you beat exactly nothing on the river. [/ QUOTE ] WTF? He beats TT and JJ, and villain should play those hands the way he did since hero didn't cap preflop (discounting AA - QQ) and basically played his hand like he has A9. Postflop in this hand is fine, but you should be capping preflop with QQ. If your caps are getting too much respect, then adjust by throwing in some loose caps, not by not capping your premiums. |

Re: PS 10 disgusting QQ hand
As most people have suggested I think capping preflop is an absolutely must. Given the way the hand played here I would either cap the flop or raise the turn. I tend to go for the turn raise since we're in position here. If you get 3-bet on the turn its a pretty easy fold.

Re: PS 10 disgusting QQ hand
Unless you know this player is solid, you can't rule out random hands like A8s or AQ, granted these are unlikely though. I think you played it fine post flop, even if you had (correctly) capped PF.
