do you file?
Recently won 4000 in a casino playing poker. Do I have to claim this on my taxes?

Re: do you file?
Yes.
You must declare all winning sessions as misc income. If you wish you may also deduct all losing sessions by itemizing your deductions. |

Re: do you file?
Did the casino get your name? Did you just take it in cash?

Re: do you file?
I just went and took my chips and they gave me cash. They didn't ask me my name.

Re: do you file?
By law, you have to report the income. But if you don't, how will the IRS ever know you won?
Now you have to determine the EV of your decision. |

Re: do you file?
We do know. Rest assured that the EV of your decision is (33% of 5000 - anal rammings 3 times a day by HIV positive inmates for a minimum of 5 years).
