Penny tables, Top set on one-suit board

Trying to relearn limit holdem on the Party penny tables.

BB is 16.4/5.3/.76 in 73 hands.

Party Poker, $0.05/$0.10 Limit Hold'em Cash Game, 9 Players

Nagging feeling that I played this poorly. Was I too scared by the board?

I think you can bet the turn.

If he has a heart, he'll be ahead (and probably raise you). But then you still have 10 outs to redraw against him. Any 2, 6, J and the case Q destroy his flush - IF he has one.
And if he doesn't HE's likely going to fold...

If he calls that means he probably has a lower set or a low flush, and then he's most likely gonna check the river and you can check behind.

This make sense to anyone?

I think you played it fine.

There's not much reason to bet the turn. If villain has the flush, he's check-raising you so you'll end up charging yourself two bets to try to redraw against him. Granted, a bet might fold out AK which obviously isn't a bad thing, but checking behind might allow us to extract a bet from that hand on the river.

Given that you checked the turn and villain checked to you on the river, I like the river bet. Villain pretty much has to call this since you've both shown weakness, so this is a fine value bet.

That's the other side of what I was getting at. As played, you showed weakness on the turn. That means that if he had a flush he would probably bet the river, but seeing as he checked (also showing weakness), you can now assume your hand is good and bet for value.

Come to think of it, it's the very same outcome, bet-wise, but this way gives you more info on where we are in the hand. AND we get to re-evaluate everything since we saw the river card for free...

With hands like these I usually wait until the turn to raise if a non heart falls. As played I like the turn check and good river bet.

hmmm I think that the turn check is decent, but after he checked twice i think id bet the river for value like you did.

I guess he also has chop outs which probably makes betting the turn best. Okay I change my mind I think we need to bet the turn.

Because the pot has gotten to the point where we should at least consider protecting our hand.

Like I said, I check behind on the turn. It's just that if you're going to analyze that street completely, you need to recognize that betting does have one potentially okay outcome.
