Overpair OOP vs. lag 1/2
Villain is a good lag reg, I have him at 31/25/3.5, 5.7/2.4/1.6 by street. 3 bets a decent amount pre, definitely a thinking player. Postflop he seems solid, haven't seen him get out of line too much. He should view me as solid TAG. I haven't seen him coldcall too much preflop fwiw.

Re: Overpair OOP vs. lag 1/2
Why are we c/c the turn? If I'm checking, it's to c/r, but I generally lead the turn for 32 and pray he goes apeshit with a hand like 78 or something.

Re: Overpair OOP vs. lag 1/2
I think betting the turn is fine too, but I think he reraises 88+ preflop, and besides pair+straight draws I'm not really ahead of a whole lot, so I went for pot control I guess, not sure.

Re: Overpair OOP vs. lag 1/2
Possibly, but c/c turn is like the worst line you can take on this turn card against this opponent. You're gonna end up checking most rivers to him (there's like a bunch of cards you don't wanna see on the river obviously), and he's gonna check behind with his hands that have SD value, and he's gonna bet with his two pair/set/straight hands, as well as his bluffs. It's gonna put you in another [censored] spot that can be avoided by c/r or leading turn.

All very good points, thanks thac. Also c/r turn helps balance vs. floats and all that good stuff.

Good analysis thac.
Now, with this said, if we lead turn, how much and what is our line if villain calls? Raises? And if we c/r and villain calls, then what? If he comes back over the top, we can't fold can we? |

Re: Overpair OOP vs. lag 1/2
If we're check raising the turn, I think it has to be a CRAI.

Re: Overpair OOP vs. lag 1/2
If he calls our turn lead, we check pretty much any river with intention of calling any blank river. If he raises I think we shove but it's close because he's not spewy postflop. It just depends on if he'd raise 88 or 78.
I like a c/r better than a lead though because he very well can be floating, and will bet almost his whole flop-call range. I would raise to 120-130 so we can shove almost any river profitably. |
