you would have already offered the hottest (and poorest) argentine girl you met $100 a month (gold to them) + living in your pad with free rent, so she could "help you with your spanish."

Worked for me.

Nice thread. Was clicking various links about their currency and doing some reading. Easy to see why no one recommends having a local bank account - Corralito.

how can you not be fluent in spanish metetron? with the money you make from poker if you had any intelligence you would have already offered the hottest (and poorest) argentine girl you met $100 a month (gold to them) + living in your pad with free rent, so she could "help you with your spanish."

No way they refuse 100 bucks + free rent.

Actually that's just over 300 pesos, which is nothing for a monthly wage. As for the free rent, any argentinian girls family doesn't live far away, so that's nothing.

Don't take lessons, just make some friends. If you're a foreigner, this shouldn't be hard if you don't have a problem talking to strangers.

I'd say don't take lessons is horrible advice. I definitely learn talking and listening to Argie friends, but nothing compares to 10 solid hours of conversation in Spanish per week solely about improving my Spanish and not about football or chasing girls with someone who is actually qualified to teach.

Okay I'll agree with you that lessons are important. I will also argue that social interaction is more important. Not only is it the majority of the immersion experience, but just taking lessons can be and is done in the states, and we see how well that works out with the majority of hte population that studies spanish but never sees a foreign country...

Right. Ok, I'll agree with that.

Default Upcoming soccer matches

Anybody interested in going to Boca-San Lorenzo Wednesday?
Nordino said it was moved to another stadium though, is that correct?

Also, anybody up for going to the World Cup Qualifier vs Chile on Oct 13?

The game was played on La Bombonera afterall. I never saw the news myself, but I was told by several Boca fans that they had seen a notice on Fox Sports that the match had been moved to Velez' stadium as a cause of the accident in the Jujuy match.

I think AFA realized that it would be a security risk to let the game be played in Liniers and not in La Boca.

Im up for the Argentina - Chile game. Don't know if it is sold out but I think we can buy a popular for 40-50 pesos outside the stadium before the game. Or do you prefer platea?

Default Re: Ask TheMetetron about living in or visiting Buenos Aires, Argentin

Awesome thread! I am only half way through it at this time, but I just wanted to express my gratitude to the people who flood this thread with information.

I will return with a summary of Thailand vs. Argentina and some questions when I have read the entire thread.

Oh and btw - I join a spanish-class monday to get a head-start!
