How do you use 2p2?

Every now and then someone posts a graph in BBV of them winning like 40k or 200k or w/e, and says "Thanks 2+2"

So obviously two plus two is a great resource, I know that. My question is for those players: how exactly do you make use of two plus two? Is it all about posting hands that you have trouble with, or is it about getting involved in discussions on hands that others post?

Yes, the strategy forums are a huge help to many people

posting your own hands, postin opinions on others hands and having people critique your opinions, it all helps

1. BBV isn't why people are thanking 2+2, so don't let that confuse you. It is all the strategy related forums. Posts of people explaining how they would play hands. Not posts about who barfed at what party or what girl looks hot or not. BBV has nothing of real substance to offer ( generally speaking). BBV is just a place for you to get flamed or to complain and then get flamed for complaining. LOL! So don't waste your time there!

2. Use the strat related forums for the type and level of poker you are playing. You can read comments on hands and related strategies involing those hands or you can post your own. If you play a hand and wonder what you did wrong or right just copy it and convert it and then share it in a forum for feedback. It is the best way to review how you played a hand or hands.

3. This is a great resource for finding out what books to read or what poker software to use and how to use it.

4. It is a place where you can share you poker experiences and make friends with people who understand what you are going through as a poker player. There are a lot of veteran players who have a wealth of knowledge to share for how to handle the stress and the highs and lows of poker. This place can act as a poker support group.

5. There is News on poker related events and topics to get caught up on what is going on.

6. The Beginners forum is so great for asking all the questions you are afraid to ask anywhere else because you think everyone will think you are stupid. People are much more helpful and go out of their way to give you the best answers they can.

When you are playing and think of a question... make sure you post it here and get feedback. That is basically what 2+2 is for in a nutshell. A place where you can ask a BUNCH of poker players what they think and then you sort out what to use and what to disregard.

FWIW ive always learnt more by replying to other peoples posts rather than just posting my own. Also the times ive been wrong are often the times ive learnt the most...so dont be afraid to be wrong! Be humble and willing to accept constructive criticism and dont be afraid to ask WHY someone said "bet/fold" or some other similar one liner. In the micros many experienced posters may give short responses but if you show a willingness to learn and ask questions they often will expand their answers. This is one of the reasons why people who area actively involved in the strat forums usually learn quicker than lurkers.

And like Ozi said, be humble. Many people post hands and just want confirmation that what they did was correct. They are not open to critical analysis and end up arguing. These type of players will never improve. Even when you disagree be open minded to other viewpoints. It can help you at the tables by having an idea how other players may be thinking.

If you are fairly new to poker, you may not be confident posting your opinions on hands in the strategy forum. However, a good thing to do is read new posted hands and type a "reply" into word for your own use. Once people have given their opinions compare that to your own. Then decide whether your "reply" still stands in your opinion. It is a good learning tool.

After a while post your opinions and join in fully.
