Home Fries or Hash Browns

Within 5 minutes of seeing this thread I left my house and bought 3 hash browns at McDonalds. Thanks guys.

A local restaurant I frequent calls "home" fries "American" fries as opposed to "French" fries, which are still the deep fried sticks. And cooking the home fries with onions, at least, is a must. And home fries with onions and green and/or red peppers is called Potatoes O'Brien.

I think all else being equal, I prefer well-made home fries to hash browns.

Also, please do not put green pepper in my home fries. Potato, onion, and seasoning only, please.
