Re: fans of The Wire: which character is your favorite?
Klompy,
You only like two tv shows? That's kind of weird imo. |

Re: fans of The Wire: which character is your favorite?
I love 24 as much as the next person but it's not in the same league as the wire. I also love all the characters but two that haven't been mentioned that I just love Donut and Kenard love those kids.

Re: fans of The Wire: which character is your favorite?
I watched season one last month and I'm working on two this month. I guess comcast is running through the seasons on on demand running up to the new season. I always made it through like three episodes of a season and crapping out on it. Much nicer to watch it whenever. Are any of the newer seasons in wide screen?

Re: fans of The Wire: which character is your favorite?
I've been thinking about the complete blackout award ceremonies have given to The Wire, and the whole-hearted embrace of the show by the black community (I think it was the first or second HBO show to ever be syndicated on another network [BET]). The Academy awards, Emmys, et al., like to proclaim their multi-culturalism and open-mindedness through token awards. I remember Denzel commenting as he became the second black person in history to win a Best Acting award: "Two birds, huh?" (referring to the the academy members getting two milestones out of the way in the same ceremony, as Hally Berry also won). I'm curious what a clearly duplicitous bunch of idiots like Hollywood would say to the contrasting of their old guard with smaller sub-communities like BET, who have given The Wire props. There is no stronger damnation of the hypocrisy in mainstream award shows claiming to reward talent than in the snubbing of The Wire.
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...age=0&vc=1 NON SHOCKING [/ QUOTE ] zomg I like 24!! [/ QUOTE ] In light of your comment on The Wire ("nothing happens"), it is pretty funny. 24, however good it may be, depends on it's formula: Jack has 24 hours to save the world. Whereas, The Wire strives to break the convention of serialized television. Not to deride your opinion, but if you honestly believe that nothing happens, the show flew right over your head. |

Re: fans of The Wire: which character is your favorite?
The Emmy's like to reward really mainstream shows and over represent network television. That is why shows like Grey's Anatomy gets 4598484589 nominations and Kiefer gets a best actor nomination, but shows like The Shield and The Wire get nothing.
