Re: npr \"talk of the nation\" report on online gambling
Not going to click the link to listen.
Not a big fan of TOTN nor of Neil Conan. He talks frequently about subjects he has very little understanding of. NPR can do a really good job a lot of the time. But Neil Conan nor this program are really in that category imo. I could have predicted the direction this program would go without even reading the responses. It's disappointing that they have to make it all seem more dramatic and evil then it really is and equally disappointing that they can't be bothered to learn more about it from half-way intelligent people who understand that the game isn't rigged but I really wouldn't expect much more. Kind of typical really. |

Re: npr \"talk of the nation\" report on online gambling
[ QUOTE ]
I heard the show and was very frustrated by the lack of knowledge and preparation exhibited by pretty much everyone involved. The show felt very aimless and haphazard. Such a waste of a great opportunity. [/ QUOTE ] it was completely inept. it was newsworthy for anyone over the age of 70 |

Zero time was wasted on the moral issue...it was more "could this affect US companies that need WTO protection". |

[ QUOTE ]
Interesting that the lawyer guy said it's not illegal to gamble within state lines, only across state lines. So you could have a californiapoker.com and it'd be completely legal... [/ QUOTE ] this is indeed interesting. I think this type of situation will be the first manifestation of "legal" online poker in the US...make it a Party Poker or PokerRoom skin plz |

Re: npr \"talk of the nation\" report on online gambling
[ QUOTE ]
From the clip's intro: "The cards are digital but the cash is real in online gambling. There's a fortune being won, and lost, on the Web, even though it's illegal in the United States. Players go to surprising lengths to enter the virtual casino and place their bets." [/ QUOTE ] why would anyone listen to the rest of it if this is the introduction? the american news media is such a joke |
