Good fold I think.

If he's really loose/passive, then his range is probably something like JJ, 99, 55, KJ right? In that case, it's a clear fold. I don't think many LPs check/raise all-in on bluffs or semi-bluffs.

Betting then conceding the pot with no action? Standard.

Why did you bet so little on the turn?
Why did you bet so little on the turn with the intent of folding to a push?
Why didn't you take a free card if you thought that the J helped BB?
What was your plan if BB just smooth called, no diamond came up, and then BB bet half the pot? the pot?

Get him to call with a worse FD or K but not pot commit myself if this happened

What was your plan if BB just smooth called, no diamond came up, and then BB bet half the pot? the pot?

i think this is usually a standard check or maybe bet/call sometimes vs loose-aggresive players but vs a loose/passive you're probably getting more value from the times he calls with worse then what you lose when he does this.

Good fold, $350ish to call to win $700ish, this is a set or straight nearly always so you wont always have 9 outs. My math is probably poor but cant see how you can profitably call this.
