something I\'ve never done
Live 12-24, full table (9 handed)
UTG+1 is a solid TAG. The first two limpers are loose/bad both preflop and post-flop, mostly passive with odds spots of aggression. The 3rd limper is pretty loose/passive throughout, but will value bet her made hands in a pretty straightforward way. My image is tight and mostly straightforward. PF Hero is button with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG folds, UTG+1 raises, 3 people cold-call, Hero 3-bets, blinds fold, everyone else calls. Flop 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players, 16.5 SB) everyone checks to hero... Does anyone check behind here? I'm pretty sure that I've got the best hand here, unless someone is slowplaying the nut flush, but the flop couldn't be much worse for my hand. I hate the idea of giving the million likely draws "infinite odds", but is it worth it to either raise a safe river card or fold if it comes down bad? |

Re: something I\'ve never done
This is like the worst possible flop. I bet and hope to get raised by some draw. I think the time to check behind is on the turn.

I told them it was even in SSHE and HEPFAP or one of those and I was told that the book was wrong. A couple people agreed with me, a lot thought I was on drugs. |

You can't give free cards on boards like this. Charge the max to anyone who is drawing. |

Re: something I\'ve never done
Almost every opponent probably has some kind of draw or piece of this flop and is taking one off. Their flop checks don't necessairly mean that they don't like this flop, since you 3-bet pre-flop and they would naturally check to the 3-bettor no matter the flop. So there is an argument to be made for checking behind and seeing what the turn brings, since you're not going to protect your hand much by betting the flop, but you could keep yourself from being drawn out on by raising the turn.

You're going to have to make up -- what? an avg of your equity in 2-3BB -- by refraining to bet here. This is happening either by the extra money your deception earns on turn/river, or the money you somehow save by not having to see a showdown when a bad turn/river card comes? I just don't see it adding up, especially as your massive under-representation of your hand is going to make it harder to make a good fold on the big streets.... |

Re: something I\'ve never done
I dont think this is the right board to check behind here.
Make it JT9 or QT9 all clubs and I could see it. |
