Default Question from someone who has played stud about 2 times

Im afraid to ask for fear of scolding...but my dad asked me (who he considers a poker expert...silly him) and i dont know the answer.

At the final table of the WSOP stud event there were 8 players. What happens if all of them play to the river (if that is even what they call it in stud). Im sure that would almost NEVER EVER happen..but what if it did?

The first card left in the deck would be dealt in the middle of the table as a community card which would play into everyone's board.

By first card...I assume you mean the 49th card? So nobody would get an individual 7th card...everyone would share the 49th card as their 7th card?

Thanks for your patience, im sure this is a stupid questiion to people who play it often.

EDIT: Do they burn cards in stud? if so, then my followup question here makes no sense and im even more confused.

They need to make a sticky post for this exact question and have it separate from the othr stickies.

I'm guessing that there were eight players at a lot of tables during that event.

If they run out of cards, they deal a community card. Yes, they burn cards in stud games, and they keep them separate from the muck just in case there's a community card. Depending on the exact number of cards left, they may shuffle the burn cards in with the rest of the stub.

If a few people have folded so that shuffling the burns will gives them enough cards, then they will give everyone their own river card.

If fewer people have folded, they'll burn and turn a community card if shuffling the burns won't give them enough cards to give everyone an personal river card.

If no one has folded, they have to shuffle the burns in with the (one-card) stub to deal a community card. In no case is the last card to be dealt.

If you're genuinely afraid of scolding, read the FAQ before posting in a forum.

My last name is Blackwood. Andy Beal is this completely other guy. Good thing I had a couple of beers before logging in here or there would be some definite asploding of heads.
