'ajml' at least deserves a snitching undertitle.

you do not have to tell them [censored].

[/ QUOTE ]

True.

[quote If you are not under arrest by an officer, they can not detain you.

[/ QUOTE ]

Absolutely false. The WSJ just had a story on stuff like this.

It wouldnt matter if her was your identical [censored] twin all you do is go "never saw him before today".

[/ QUOTE ]

Can't you conceiveably also just say, "Whether I know him or not doesn't matter because I don't have to tell you anything" or even more simply, "I know his phone number but I am not going to give it to you and I do not give you permission to look ay my phone without a search-warrant."

Speaking of all this sillyness...can the friends say they felt they were coerced to give the officers the information as to his whereabouts and that they felt they would be under arrest or something if they didn't?
This could conceiveably help TJ out somewhat perhaps.

It's obvious the friends thought they practrically had to cooperate even though that obviously wasn't the case. Without their cooperation they don't get TJ to come back there in the first place and thus are potentially unable to identify or arrest him.

This doesn't have anything to do with charges. Foxwoods can't charge him with anything. But I am pretty sure what Foxwoods could do is (a) prohibit from cashing his chips (no idea how much he had), (b) throw him out of the casino, and (c) ban him. So they have some kind of pressure they can exert (and did exert) on the "snitch" when they demand that he show them his phone.

I tried to cash out my chips immediately after this happened but the supervisor or whatever told me I could not and the State Police would be there in a second. Not long before this whole thing we showed up together at Foxwoods in the same car, coming from the same hotel. I was allowed to go outside to smoke and they saw me make a phone call and assumed it was TJ (it wasnt). I gave them my phone after this and probably about 30 minutes after I got stopped. They also had a 3rd person from our group who makes it a lot more difficult to make anything up.

Looking back on it I'd have to say that not a single part of this from start to finish was avoidable.

[/ QUOTE ]
Looking forward, you should learn your rights so you don't get [censored] over again in the future.

You didn't have to tell them a damn thing. They can't look at your phone or anything else of yours without your permission or a warrant.

I'm no legal expert, but I highly doubt a casino can say "No we won't let you cash out until you let me look through the phone numbers on your phone."

A better question though.

TJ, why the hell did you answer a call from some random number you didn't recognize right after this went down?
