Flopping a boat on a raggy board
Full Tilt Poker
No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.25/$0.50 5 players Converter Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is BB with T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 folds, SB calls, Hero checks. Flop: 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($1, 2 players) SB checks, Hero checks. Turn: A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($1, 2 players) SB bets $0.5, Hero calls. River: 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($2, 2 players) SB bets $4.5, Hero raises all-in $51.25. Thoughts on how I played this hand? I find that in situations like this, if I were playing at higher limits, like say $100NL or $200NL, I could bet out and get played back at. At $50NL, a bet usually seems to take down pots like this immediately, which is not what I want? Do you bet the flop here? Raise the turn? |

Re: Flopping a boat on a raggy board
When the SB checks to you on a paired board like that, I'd make it a habit to bet ATC. Takes it down a lot and will help get you action when you do actually flop a boat.
As played, I think it's OK. You could raise the turn hoping he turned a pair of aces, but then he would much more cautious on the river, so I like the way you waited until the river to raise as that extracts more when he is bluffing. River overbet-shove is lol but probably the best line, only thing that is going to beat you here is A5, but there's a lot you beat and he is just begging to get it in. |

River overbet-shove is lol [/ QUOTE ] I figured since he overbet himself, he'd be willing to get in there and gamble. |

Stack sizes? I think your raise is bad but since he overbet I suppose he may call with a 3.

Re: Flopping a boat on a raggy board
Sorry, stack sizes are very relevant. They are:
Seat 2: SB ($20.45) Seat 3: Hero ($52.25) When I went all-in, he had another $15 behind, so the overbet is not enormous. |

Re: Flopping a boat on a raggy board
given his stack size and he overbet the river I think your push is fine. He'll call with almost anything he bet with.

Re: Flopping a boat on a raggy board
Blind battle with a flopped full on a non connected paired board I'd check the flop. On a paired board there only five cards in the deck to make a hand in this case two 5s and 3 Ts and you have two of those cards so I'd give him the opportunity to catch a little something on the turn.
