You are missing the point. Which is that a major American company has decided, with much publicity, to help foreigners engage in a practice with the full understanding that the whole United States Congress, with much publicity, has declared to be a bad practice. Bad enough to have a Federal law against it.

I just hope that someone bringing attention to this won't make them reconsider. Because it just might lead to something good.

i feel for you man...you're correct on many levels. the best post you made is the one where you pre asked the questions harrahs execs are going to have to face. now...pleease ignore all posts nitpicking your analogies and lets get ot the meat of this matter...what stocks should we buy? HET is a joke, in limbo because of the pending "purchase"...my CRYP is doing well lately, anyone thinking of getting back into NTLRF?

Philip Morris isn't in the marijuana business in Holland.

It couldn't be in this business even if it wanted to.

Elite Modeling agency doesn't provide 14 year old escorts in Thailand.

This is something my knowledge is very limited about. I'm sure you are more familiar with these things than me.

But major American companies are in tobacco, alcohol, and gambling business abroad in countries where age restrictions are more liberal than in USA (I suppose 18 in Macao).

honestly I think yahoo is a better example for you. They are a bigger company with a better reputation.

I think there are more examples to, when you go to the Marriott in Aruba you can smoke a cuban cigar.

David, what do you feel are the ramifications of them opening an internet gaming business? I mean, people who think gambling is immoral, think it's immoral. Online, brick and mortar- it doesn't matter, so I really don't see what you think the stretch is here. I don't see how you think they're putting their neck on the line here.

It was bigger news when Yahoo did it. Yahoo had never been in the gambling business previous to them entering.

I am really not sure that you can draw any conclusions other than the fact that they want to have a store opened just in case and the cost of entry to online just wasn't that high.

Do you know of any US businesses that knowingly engage in something that is considered legal in that area but illegal in the US (besides Blackwater)?

Chinese lead paint toy companies. BTW what are the health statistics on the employees in these companies? And the Chinese children that get toys manufactured in China, or do they ONLY export these unhealthy toys?

Awesome, lets continue to let major corporations dictate the laws and policy of our country. If online poker becomes legal again, I'd prefer it be because of a more grassroots effort by poker players and the American people at-large acknowledging that it is ridiculous rather than because major companies can make more money. This will be awesome, they will have McDonald's ads on the hole cards and every time I win a hand it will ask me if I would like to purchase something.

[/ QUOTE ]

LOL well put. wait till america gets done with internet poker. [censored] will be ridiculous.

Anytime a large company gets involved in an endeavor like this, it makes a statement. Their statement is that online poker is good, and we want in on it. That kind of move speaks silent words to the administration, and hopefully, loud verbal words from lobbyists for the industry.
