my read

fold you don t have the odds to call you

basically your bet cries over pair

so he is aclling with 1 a lesser pair
2 a straight draw
3 a set
4 a full house
5 a flush draw
there are little straight draw that didn t hit

so by the river he has to think of your hand that either you have nothing or an over pair

he should know that a pot bet would do the job well enough against a bluff (taking your check as weaknes)

but more than half the time he has you beat

it is still early you have lost little and can recover

let him go away aith the bluff

id put them on either top set, missed flush, hit straight, or possible overs(at most J's, n-e-thing higher is unlikely).

But i have no clue to which this is sense u have explained nothing about previous hands u have seen against this guy, nor have u given any other important info.

what's the buy-in?

My nitty side says I dump it since there's an awful a lot of hands that beats us here. What are we beating that limp/calls preflop and calls the flop bet...88, maybe 99?, and a missed FD?

I asked about the buy in because some players might interpret your pf raise and c-bet as aq/ak...so they're shoving river with just a pair since they have no idea what to do if you make a strong raise on the river. So part of me wants to call because a huge overbet smells like he's FOS.

I'd bet more on the flop with flush and straight possibilities. Anyways without a strong read that villain's full of it, I'd dump it.

I'm usually the one telling you that you are too aggro, so this may sound strange, but i think you should bet more on the flop. When you have shown a lot of strength pre (raising two limpers from MP) disguising your hand in a multi-way flop is pointless. I like the raise size pre, but bet the pot 450-500 on the flop.

The turn is kinda tricky b/c i would have expected MP1 to raise your flop bet (esp since it was so small) with an overpair like 88-JJ. Unfortunately, those hands are pretty much the only hands in his range that u are ahead of after the turn, excluding a FD. I think that the way you have played the hand + board texture makes a river bluff possible with air/missed FD, but this can also be so many other hands shoving the river for value. Bets like this are also sometimes made when a player (incorrectly) slowplays a big hand on one street, and then tries to make up for the value they lost with an overbet on the river. I think i fold river...this is never an overpair and not a bluff enough times to make this call correct.

Weird things happen when you bet that small on the flop. Looks like you were prepared, though. nh
