KQo on button...
I'm in the game because of the guy in UTG+1. He's pretty darn maniacal, he'll call with any two cards and bet with nothing.
Don't have much info on SB but he seems tight. Poker Stars, 1$/2$. Hero is on button with.. K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG+1 limps, a few folds, hero limps, sb raises, BB folds, 2 calls. (3BB) Okay, question, should I be raising this here with the aim of isolating instead of just limping? Flop T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] sb bets, UTG+1 calls, I call. (4.5BB) Should I be raising here? I didn't because I was planning on raising a non club turn. Is this incorrect? Turn 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] check, check, Hero bets, 2 calls. (7.5BB) River 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] sb checks, UTG+1 bets, hero calls, sb raises, UTG+1 folds, Hero? There's 11.5BB in the pot at this point. I should be folding this here right? I'm not winning often enough am I? Sorry to post a hand that might seem somewhat obvious to a lot of you but I'm still having trouble with some of these decisions. |

Re: KQo on button...
Raise this pre-flop because it is probably the best hand.
I'd raise the flop and call a 3-bet, I'm still confident in my hand. As played, turn is fine. I throw up in my mouth a little when SB c/r the 3-flush, but I'll pay 1 bb for the read on him figuring I'm good 1 in 16 times. |

Re: KQo on button...
RAISE PREFLOP!
zomg, raise flop. You use the wait til the turn line when the pot is big and you expect many turn cards to dramatically effect your equity. The only few "bad" turn cards here are the non-club aces. Turn: Now look what you've done. No action on the turn. I bet you wish you raised the flop? River: ha. ha. you got drawn out on. Call and punch yourself in the face for not raising preflop and the flop and getting more bets in when you had the best of it. Yes, I do realise this could be something like A3, but whatever, doesn't change the fact that there should have been a pfr and a flop raise |

Re: KQo on button...
Grunch:
Raise preflop!! As played, raise the flop!! Re-evaluate after SB's response. As played, turn was good. River, I'd make a crying call, then kick the wall or something, and then go on the the next hand. Doc |

Re: KQo on button...
raise preflop u dont want sb and bb in with any two cards for free and UTG+1 is who u want to be HU against and u have a good hand equity wise against his likely holdings and position.
raise the flop ur a favorite over not just UTG but u also have another caller padding that pot, raise and make money utg wont always lead the turn after 2 calls on the turn obvious bet when ck'd to, id call down a cr from either. river is the easiest fold ever. I cant believe any 2p2ers pay this off, this crying call is a definite leak in a protected pot after the action goes bet, call and then the 3rd guy raises and u have one pair. one pair is good here like 1-2% of the time if even. Re: KQo on button...
Raise preflop, especially if you are looking to isloate UTG+1.
I'm raising the flop for value, you most likely have a pretty solid lead on this hand so punish your opponents, especially UTG+1 for playing garbage hands. On the river, you are getting great odds, but I don't see what other hand a tight player could be check raising with here. He's gotta be check raising you with more than a pair. I think folding this is fine. |

Re: KQo on button...
y the f would u raise the river donk from UTG??? just go for the overcall and expect to lose in this protected pot unless UTG is a special breed of maniac. vs most ur not even even money against the donk plus ur giving up odds for the times he 3bets.

Re: KQo on button...
So, the general concensus is that I totally misplayed preflop and the flop. I have to agree with you all.
It was weak play on my part. I think it's hands like this one that I'm only break even at this limit so far. I just don't protect my hands enough sometimes. Ah well. |

Re: KQo on button...
Raise the flop, call a 3-bet and fold to a turn bet unimproved.
If SB is tight, most of his preflop raising range is ahead of you on the flop, apart from QQ,JJ and AQ. Of course, lead the turn if your flop raise is only called. Dont wait for the turn to raise a non club. You dont know that your hand is best. FWIW what the hell was SB check raising the river with that he did not bet the turn ? AQs maybe ? |
