Default When will a book cut you off?

What happens when you're a proven winner? Will online books cut you off? What about Vegas books? How much can you win from a book before they cut you off? Or will they just impose betting limits, etc?

How do pros keep taking money from the books month after month, year after year? When I see a line move because of sharp money, I wonder why a book would take a bet from a sharp in the first place. Or are all the sharp line movements because of touts making their picks public?

Anybody have any insight or personal stories? Anybody ever work at a book?

Some books will cut you off when you're a proven winner.

Some books will never cut you off.

Some books will only cut you off if you abuse their bonuses.

In Vegas, its tough to get a lot of action down period. You'll have trouble putting 10k on a line in Vegas unless you're strongly known to the casino and generally only then if you're a loser / whale elsewhere in the casino.

As for someone who worked for a book, check the YouTalkFunny thread in The Well:

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...=0#Post12933167

There's also quite a bit of discussion about cut off limits and practices at various books in that tread.

As domer Mentioned it depepends on the book and how you are winning.

Bet 3,65 cut my limits to single digits after less then 10 bets. 5dimes was quick to boot me after i hit them on a huge arb. I took nearly 15k through arbs from Sia before they kicked me out. Vip told me my action was not welcome after 5 bets and bodog put my on their alternativ lines.

Since iam almost exclusivly arbing or playing the soft side iam always betting with/before the steam wich is a pretty good way to get limited fast.

Most books will take a lot of action befor limiting a player who is mostly betting into stale lines and is winning.

The ONLY book I've never heard a story about limiting winning players is Pinnacle. I'm not talking about the bet limits they have for everyone, but limits exclusively targeted at winners.

Never heard of Pinnacle putting a limit on someone.

They'll trail sharp players by shading their lines. They had a big position on Miami last week.

Sharp bettors don't get trapped.

Pinnacle's awesome.

Just wish Pinnacle had more live betting. Have to use others for that.

At my peak, I had different (lower) limits on my MMA wagering than others.

Of course I could still bet as much as I wanted through them, it just gave them more opportunity to flag my bets / move lines / adjust to me.

There's at least one active poster in this forum that can confirm my (previous) limit differences, having seen them with their own eyes.

I have no idea if they did this in other spots, or just because it was a niche sport / I had such a large following and ability to move the lines in the heyday / whatever.
