No you're not.

Seriously though, after that girl just got killed responding to an ad on Craig's List there's no way I'd accept a car ride from some Canadian on 2+2.

I can't imagine why in the world you guys are so willing to spend a day and a half driving vs. catching a plane flight. I'd rather stay at a lesser quality hotel and save money that way. Sheesh, you gain an entire day by flying. I'd hang myself driving that long.

A few years ago I was playing at The Orleans in March when I saw a couple young fellows from back home. Said "hello" and chatted a bit and found out they'd kinda half-emptied their frat, rented a giant van, and like 12 of them had driven to Vegas. Guy I was talking to said he had already booked a plane reservation to go back home--he was NOT going to spend 20 more hours in a van with those 11 other guys. What had seemed like it would be great fun turned out to be otherwise.

roadtrips should be about the journey more and the destination less. Trips to Vegas does not qualify.

take the plane.

Drove from Arcata, California to Vegas once during college. It was about 12 hours each way and we had less than 24 hours to spend in the city cuz we had to drive all the way back. It sucked. If you can afford to stay at MGM Grand you can afford to fly. You can save even more money by staying at the Gold Spike or the Western. You are college students -- it doesn't matter if your conditions are filthy.

To each his own. I figure 2200 miles roundtrip divided by 20 mpg = 110 gals. x $3 = $330 gas.

Standard wear and tear, depreciation and maintainence on a car is something you have to factor. This amount varies,
The IRS allows 48.5 cents per mile when using your car for business. I think a bare min.would be 20 cents, so that would be $440 + $330 gas = $770 expense + 35 hours driving.

But I have a friend from Chicago, who lives here in Vegas and dose'nt like to fly. He regularly loads up the family and drives to San diego and San fran to see the Cubs, and to Chicago to visit family.

So either way, Have a great trip.

I would rather fly too but the drive is kinda nice too. It is a nice break. My friend hates flying so he will probally mostly drive. We are going to try to speed and make it in 15 hours.
