Default \"Rocktober\" being copyrighted...

Just saw this article on ESPN.com. Basically, the Governor of Colorado declared the month to be "rocktober" honoring the rockies run, now the rockies are copyrighting the term so that they can put it on stuff theyre selling with exclusive rights.

a) this is incredibly lame and retarded.
b) if the governor came up with the name, why are the rockies the ones copyrighting it/using it to sell merchandise?

A) Maybe, but lots of teams use slogans for their playoff runs. Meh?

B) Because the governor didn't, and they can make money on it by having sole rights. Meh?

I was mostly suggesting that it seems retarded to say "hey we are copyrighting this so only we can make money off of it...the idea that someone else had before us.

Governor wasn't the first person here to use the term Rocktober. It was on some Rockies gear for awhile now.. before the governor declared the month Rocktober.

It's going to get really confusing when someone is nicknamed "Mr. Rocktober."
