Default VP$IP

Right now my VP$IP is about 25%. Is this too high, and if so what should I try and get it down to?

Your VPIP is perfectly fine. In fact, I would say 25% is fine for even full ring (where you would be playing tighter).

One thing I ought to mention is that you ought to be looking at VPIP together with PFR. If your VPIP is 25%, then PFR should be at least 12.5%, and is probably best in the upper teens (15-19%). If it's more like 5%, you need to raise more preflop.

This depends on so many things. What limits are you playing? Are you winning? What is your PFR? What are your positional stats (are you a lot tighter from early position and looser from the button)? Are you cold calling raises? Are you putting in too much from SB? Are you defending BB too much?

I think your VPIP is prolly a little high, though 25/20 is a lot better than 25/10. If you are running at 7bb/100 then it is fine, but if you are running at 1bb/100, then tightening up will prolly help a lot. Depending on why it is high, you could get it down by tightening up in early position, cold calling less, not overlimping, not defending BB so much, not completing in SB with crap.

One thing that was pointed out to me a while ago was that you should not take too much notice of your own stats whilst the game is in progress.

For example, you might have a VP$IP of 36 and a PFR of 16 which would probably indicate that you are on a card rush rather than playing loosely.

Conversely you may have a VP$IP of 16 and a PFR of 6 which would probably indicate a cold deck.

There is a lot of information available on how to analyse PT stats, just Google PokerTracker.

Hope this helps.
