Default PS3 60GB price drop to $499

Expect an announcement at the upcoming E3 convention on a price drop to $499 for the PS3.

Circuit Cities ad for the week of 7/15-7/21 advertises the drop as a "price break", which has always been permanent in the past. Therefore it is all but confirmed that an official PS3 price drop will occur within the next 2 weeks.

Thank God. That means I can finally go grab one. Can't wait to play NCAA on it.

I guess this is a good sign. I'd hoped for an even bigger drop, but this does effectively make it less costly than a 360 if you consider the wireless option a must.

Not sure what you mean. The $400 360 comes with a wireless controller.

I mean that the PS3 has built-in Wi-Fi capability, while the 360 requires the purchase of a $99 adapter to achieve that functionality.

Best new feature of PS3: Ability to connect wirelessly to all 'Media servers'. i.e. the new Windows Media player 11. It will stream all video, pics, or music from your PC. Very awesome!

This thing can still play PS2 games right? Because if it can I might get one just because I got like 50 PS2 games.
