Default no more mods in OOT

nothing against grandmastabone, but we have a lot of active mods in OOT, and we really don't need anybody else.

While he does well with the Lost threads, I would have serious objections to him becoming a mod.

Where is this being suggested?

Nick,

I have asked Mat about helping to moderate OOT. Currently, yourself, NT! and samjjones are the most active mods. Mat told me to contact you guys to see whether an additional mod would have a place.

As to whether there is, the argument I made in my request was that out of seven ‘green’ mods listed, only three are consistently active (listed above). More importantly, mod availability is virtually always low in the late night/early morning hours – these are the hours when I am most active (1am-7am). Frequently mod action is needed during these hours and will go unnoticed until 8am-12pm. I think all of you guys do an awesome job in OOT, my argument is simply that an additional mod virtually always available during these hours would be a worthwhile addition.

So I guess the question now becomes whether or not I myself would be a good fit for this. This is really a judgment call for you to make. I will say that:

- I feel I am a solid contributor to OOT.

-I feel I ‘get’ what belongs, what doesn’t belong and what the overall feel of the forum is/should be.

- My request is not driven by ego, this won’t be a case of “OMG I’m a mod now things are going to change!” I think OOT is run very well and would simply help out with the work you guys already do, primarily in the hours where it is most needed.

- I feel I would have the support of the forum.

Simply put, I spend a lot of time on the board, I am in a position to help and would love to be able to.

Let me know what you think,

Will

TheDude, and Daryn are also active. There is usually somebody around from 1am-7am, even though there are few posts so modding isn't necessary.

he sent this to me too. mine had this in it:

Currently, yourself, Nick B, samjjones and NT! are the most active mods.

so basically he just cut and pasted wrong i guess. anyway i told him that the only way i would be in favor of him becoming a mod would be if green were removed.. which is basically dynasty right? what's up with that by the way?

Jared, why don't you want him to be a mod. I am not in favor of adding a mod.

As I said, I think he's an ok poster now and in particular does really well with the lost threads.

A while ago he was a reasonable troll in POG. He only posted there a short while. Basically he really laid into people and made some comments that were inappropriate, though not bannable, in a couple of games. VR and I asked him to tone it down and his response wasn't reasonable. At some point he started a NSFW werewolf game that started out with some full on hardcore porn images. After I deleted them and told him he couldn't do that, he did tone them down to bikini clad type shots. In general I would classify his behavior as solidly attention whorish. Pretty much all the posters in POG are agreeable and everyone gets along pretty well, including with new posters there, but there were several posters that really didn't like him and I was glad when he stopped posting there because it could have potentially been a problem.

Another thing, which isn't bad in and of itself but is a bad sign, is that before he got a custom title he was one of the posters that repeatedly begged for a custom title in threads in AtF and OOT. Again, this isn't such a big deal but would make me question this: "My request is not driven by ego, this won’t be a case of “OMG I’m a mod now things are going to change!” I think OOT is run very well and would simply help out with the work you guys already do, primarily in the hours where it is most needed."

Given the above, and that it isn't needed (I've been around often enough during those hours and not noticed anything really in need of modding) I think it's much more likely that he wants to be a mod solely for personal reasons and is trying to come up with some reason for it.

So I think his motivations are questionable, he's got an attention whoring streak which is a bad quality for a mod to have, and he responds poorly to criticism which is bad for mods in general and especially for high traffic and profile forums like OOT.

I also agree with him and you guys above that you are doing a great job and at least that I have noticed there doesn't seem to be a need for more mods there.

Jared

Most definitely. I am not even that familiar with Stabone, but this was the first thing I noticed about him from the very beginning. He reeks of attention whore.
