Default WSOP Accomodations (Stars)

Hey guys, I apologize if this has been covered already, but does anyone know where PokerStars qualifiers will be offered accomodations for the WSOP this year? Will it be at the Rio, or have they announced it yet?

Thanks.

Accomodations are to be announced.

I took the hotel room option in lieu of the cash to insure that I have SOMEWHERE to stay during the big one. Vegas will be an absolute madhouse during this time, so won't rooms be scarce? I think PokerStars is going above and beyond by hooking us up with transportation, an emergency point of contact, and so forth.

For the main event you mean. Or using FPPs?

The WSOP is not a big event by Las Vegas standards. Lots of other conventions draw many times more people. That combined with the mid-summer timing of the event should mean that hotel rooms will be no more scarce than usual.

The poker rooms will be packed, of course.

140,000 people came to Vegas last year for The International Consumer Electronics Show. WSOP might bring 10k or so (players plus media/ghangers on etc).

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a "ghanger"?

My email said probably the Monte Carlo...

This may get messy; look at the bold part at the bottom:

-------------

Congratulations on winning a WSOP satellite! You're now poised to follow in Chris Moneymaker's, Greg Raymer's, and Joe Hachem's footsteps to become a member of Team PokerStars wearing the WSOP bracelet.

There are a few things you need to do:

1. Please send an email to our WSOP staff at wsop@pokerstars.com if:

- You have any questions about WSOP.

- Your name or address in PokerStars is not correct. If the name on your account is not correct, then please contact us *immediately*.
- Your phone number is not correct (or not included) in your PokerStars account. We want to be able to contact you as quickly and efficiently as possible. The more phone numbers you give us (home, business, mobile), the better chance we have of reaching you quickly should that be necessary.

2. Make your travel arrangements to Las Vegas. The event is at the Rio Hotel/Casino and starts on Friday, July 28th. It ends on Thursday, August 10th. You can see the full schedule for it here:

http://worldseriesofpoker.com/2006wsop.asp

You'll need to be in Las Vegas on Thursday, July 27th. We have already deposited $1000 into your PokerStars account to pay for your travel and incidental expenses. There are four first day "flights" in the WSOP main event this year. Unfortunately, we don't know which flight you're in, and may not know until relatively late in the process. Please plan to be in Las Vegas by the 27th in case you start on the 28th.

3. Click to Respond : Please take a moment to register with our online site. We cannot buy you into the event until you've completed registration.

4. Cash Satellite Winners, you have three (3) choices:

· Sponsored Player - Hotel:

If you agree to wear our logo gear the whole time you're in the tournament

[1], we will provide you with nine days accommodations at a large

hotel/casino property in Las Vegas, [2] arriving on Thursday July 27th and

checking out on Saturday August 5th. If you still have chips on August

4th, we'll take care of your hotel for the remainder of the event (another five days).

· Sponsored Player - Cash in lieu of hotel:

If you prefer, you can have an extra $1,000 cash in lieu of the hotel (no bonus for having chips on August 4th).

· Additional benefits to choosing one of our two Sponsorship Opportunities:

o On the day you sign your Terms & Conditions in our Hospitality Suite, you'll get a nice travel bag filled with PokerStars clothing and other goodies.

o Furthermore, if you make it to the final table, we'll have some more goodies for you:

* $100,000 if you make the final table

* $250,000 if you make it to 3rd or 2nd place [3]

* $1,000,000 if you win the event [3]

If you decide to take either "Sponsored Player" option (and we hope you will), then choose that option in the registration software. Note that there will be two "sponsored" options: "sponsored hotel" (you want the hotel room) and "sponsored cash" (you prefer the $1,000 cash).

· Non-Sponsored Player option:

If you are not interested in wearing our gear to obtain the free hotel accommodation, simply select Non-Sponsored Player on the registration page.

o If you choose this option you will NOT receive any of the following:

§ Hotel accommodation

§ Cash in lieu of hotel

§ Goody bag

§ Additional Sponsorship opportunity

If you choose this option, please choose the "Non-sponsored Player" option in the registration software.

Once you choose one of the three (3) options, you will not be able to switch, so please make sure that you choose carefully the first time.

5. FPP and TLB satellite winners and Supernova - you are required to wear PokerStars gear and we hope you'll wear it with pride. Chris Moneymaker and Greg Raymer were both wearing PokerStars shirts when they made their big scores. We will provide you with nine days accommodations, at one of three (3) hotels, arriving on Thursday July 27th and checking out on Saturday, August 5th. If you still have chips on August 4th, we'll take care of your hotel for the remainder of the event (another five days). If you prefer, you can have an extra $1,000 cash in lieu of the hotel (no bonus for having chips on August 4th). On the day you arrive, you'll get a nice travel bag filled with PokerStars clothing and other goodies. Furthermore, if you make it to the final table, we'll have some more goodies for you:

* $100,000 if you make the final table

* $250,000 if you make it to 3rd or 2nd place [2]

* $1,000,000 if you win the event [2]

You will need to choose one of the "sponsored" options in the registration software. Note that there will be two "sponsored" options: "sponsored hotel" (you want the hotel room) and "sponsored cash" (you prefer the $1,000 cash). Once you choose one of those options, you will not be able to switch, so please make sure you that you choose carefully the first time.

6. We have a special web page set up for our WSOP satellite qualifiers. It's:

Please bookmark it and refer to it frequently. It will have the most up-to-date information that you'll need about your excellent WSOP adventure. And of course, if there are questions that it doesn't answer, drop us a note at:

wsop@pokerstars.com

Again, congratulations on this win, and perhaps we'll be taking pictures of you with Joe Hachem, Greg Raymer, and Chris Moneymaker this year!

Best regards,

Lee Jones

PokerStars Poker Room Manager

[1] Any requirements that you wear our logo gear are subject to whatever rules the WSOP places on logos in the tournament. We will not ask, nor expect, you to break any rules that the WSOP puts in place.

[2] We have blockes of rooms at the Monte Carlo, Treasure Island, and Luxor. You will *probably* be registered into the Monte Carlo, but if the Monte Carlo has filled up in the last 24-48 hours, you could end up in one of the other properties. In fairness to all players, we can not take requests for specific properties, and once you accept the "hotel" (as opposed to "cash") option, you can not switch back.

[3] Please note that these bonuses will involve your signing an endorsement contract with us. We will negotiate these when you win.

-------------

Hope this helps.

No; Vegas is relatively slower during the summer months. The WSOP ME does not increase the tourist population in Vegas by any significant amount (enough so that you'll have trouble finding a hotel room). It's not like New Years Eve or the Superbowl or anything like that (or even a Microsoft convention). A few of my buddies got hotel rooms 2 days before the start of the ME event last year, and there was no shortage of places to choose from. The one place that is a "madhouse" is the Rio poker room/airplane hanger. If I recall, the Rio still had rooms available during the start of the ME last year.

Of course, I agree, PokerStars pwns, though. On a side note, for those of you who saw the travel bags with "goodies" from last year (noted in the email above), they're really pretty neat. I don't know if they plan on doing it this year, but they embroidered everyone's name on their bags followed by "Team PokerStars 2005" on it. The bag is full of promo stuff and clothes (which are nice, but not noteworthy in and of themselves), but I was mightly impressed with just the bag itself. My description probably isn't doing it justice, but they're pretty cool.
