I also played all day at the Best Bet in Jacksonville. As you propobably noticed, the House was taking its rake "immedaitely." Meaning, even if there was not a flop, the house would rake the first $2. From a practical stand point, this means there is no real reason for Chopping. Our table decided to just check down and run out the cards. This of course, like Chopping, can be agreed upon by the individual players. Unfortunately, I had three unlucky hands (I will not bore you with the details - but I was 4:1 favorite on two {all money in pre-flop} and 5:1 favorite on the other when all the money went it on the other) that tunred a good day in to a not so good day. My only comment was that when a chip runner would color-up a player, they would not leave a marker with the player to show how much they were behind. There would be some controversy of the player went all-in, while the chip runner took $100 of that players, to color up. There was some absolute terrible play; therefore, despite my results, I think the Poker Room will be a place that some oney can be mnade.

Up $77 first day..

Some lines from the day...

"I gotto call, I'm getting pot odds" - from the BB holding J4s preflop with UTG shoveing all in for 60 and someone in MP shoving over him for another 120.. needless to say, J4 hit two pair and won.

"I have the best hand, so I had to bet it!" - player that shoved all in for $60 over a bet and raise preflop... with 44. (any pair is a favorite right?)

And the ever classic "Does a straight beat a flush?"

The Tampa Hard Rock has some of the best 1-2 NL games around. Mnay calling stations. Some tight passive but calling station older players 55+.

The cardroom started to fill up with people on Sunday around 2 p.m. The floor started up the last few open
tables available at the time. I was there before noon and getting on a 1-2 NL table wasn't more than a short wait.

A few big preflop raises won the hand immediately most of the time at my table. They do take a rake on the hands that do not reach the flop.

The management seems clueless as usual about filling empty seats as there can be 2+ empty seats that remain empty for 15+ minutes when the lists are jammed. I have no idea why the dealers do not use walkie talkies to call the open seats with the brush using a P.A. system like how Harrahs uses this system well.

Overall the low limut NL at the Hard Rock Tampa is a very good place for NL. Highly recommended.

Anybody know what the new stakes are like at the Miccosukee? I know it's a [censored]-hole but still, closest casino near my home.

I too agree with Packard as far as the need of a walkie talkie system at the Tampa HR. Open seats abound at tables even though there players on waiting list. Before leaving I questioned the management on the "drop without a flop". They really couldnt give me an insightful answer. I did get "well...theres has to be a rake..right?" I said no there doesnt, but they just looked at me like I was insane.

the $100 no limit game with blinds of $1/$2 was pretty wild. At my table, I had two players going all-in in the dark (yes, they knew each other)....also first preflop raises from $2 to $30-$35. I thought I was playing $2/5NL at Borgata or something. And with the max-buyin of $100, there were a lot of all-ins on the flop as I expected. I was down a bit, then up a bit, then wounded up cashing out +5 . Was playing my normal tight live game and saw maybe 4-5 hands past the flop in a 4 hour period. This guy two seats to the right of me was a maniac. Once I got decent reads on a few players at the table, it was midnight and they had to close. THey (Palm Beach Kennel) also had a 2nd BB that you had to post after the SB when you are on the button.. That was pretty weak too.

I think im gonna take the extra 1/2 hour drive from now on and try the HArd ROck, since they have even higher limits and are open 24 hours.

My "home" casino is the Brighton Seminole. Small 10-table room in the middle of nowhere. Sunday midnight they started 2 1/2 NL tables and a 3/6 limit table. The players at one or two other tables didn't want to break up the old 2/2 limit game. I left around 2am and heard the games went till about 4am.

Got some sleep and spent the day with my wife before heading back around 7pm. DEAD. Only table going was 2/4 limit. Eventually they opened a second 2/4 limit game, but never got a NL game going.

Line of the day/week/month: We were having one of our typical Florida summer thunderstorms. Just as a woman was tossing out a $4 bet, the lights go out (lights go out a lot here during stormy season). Without missing a beat the dealer calls, "She bets $4 in the dark."

Wondering what I'll find when I get there tonight.

Vox I havent read this whole thread so someone might have answered for you. Hard Rock does not have chips higher than $5 as of yet. Cash is playable on the big NL tables only $100 bills though. They have a large order for $25, $100, $500 and some $5000 chips (dont know why you need a $5K chip). This is what all the dealers are saying there. All I can say is there were a ton of red birds on the 10-25 NL tables. Yes tables they were spreading 2.
