I'm gonna make a wild guess that the Yankees didn't win 70% of his starts for a given year outside of '01 (if that year) back when he was several years younger, could give 7 innings, and they had a bullpen better equipped to hold leads. My claim, offered in ignorance, is testable...

Hello all Yankee peoples,

It looks like I will be heading out to NY next weekend to watch some games. It will be my second time to NYC, and my first time to Yankee Stadium. I am really looking forward to this, for the trip in general, and of course going to the Stadium since I am a big baseball fan.

So the Oakland A's are next weekends opponents, and since I am a YS noob, how far in advance do I have to buy tickets? Can I just show up a couple hours before game time? How is watching bp at the stadium? Any other helpful hints you regulars could throw my way? I am open to sitting practically anywhere, unless you guys let me know of particularly bad areas or whatever.

Basically, give me some input! No detail you give will be unappreciated! And if any of you will be at any of the A's games, or perhaps the Monday Twins game, maybe you will see this California fan at the Stadium.

Buy tickets before you get there.

If it is a weekday day game you can probably get near face value tickets on ebay. For any other game expect to pay above face value. I recommend ebay as stubhub is way too expensive (unless you find someone trying to move them at the last minute).

All the seats at Yankee stadium are pretty good. Sitting in the back of the box seats kinda sucks. The upper tier seats are actually a good view. You sort of hang over the field. If you have problems with heights, as my mother does, it can get tricky up there.

You can watch all over batting practice. I believe they open the gates 2 hours before the game. You cannot go into the lower section (the expensive seats) unless you have tickets there, but you can easily see the players and yell at them no problem from behind there. Also you can get right up on the outfield wall by the foul poles and tell Mo' how much you love him while he is shagging fly balls.
