Default 24: I\'m posting like a beast because I want knowledge

Hero MP (3700)
BB (4100)

BB thinks I'm FOS, I've raised I think 3 of the last 10 or 11 times.

blinds 50/100

Folds to hero who raises to 350 with A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], folds to BB who calls.

Flop: J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

BB checks, Hero checks (I normally cont. bet here, but my read is BB may CR me here thinking I'm FOS).

Turn: 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

BB checks, Hero bets 400, BB snap calls (Now I know I have the best hand and if BB RRs, I may even call him or 4-bet).

River: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Assume:

1. Villain checks
2. Villain bets 400
3. Villain bets 1000.

What did BB do? I'm hoping we can check behind but if you posted this I doubt he made it that easy on you.

I don't get this.
If you check behind in scenario 1, why not just call in scenario 2? The shove gets called by any FH or better 2 pair, so we are not folding out any hands that beat us. Plus, hands we beat instafold.

If he bets 400, it's almost always a bluff with A high or King high. I only have to get him to fold ~40% of the time to make this profitable, which is fine by me, because he has A high / folds small two pair about 50-60% of the time.

Yeah, Villain checked, and I really, really really wanted to fire 1200 because I put him squarely on A high. I thought, though, that I had some showdown value against K high and that he may have been slowplaying 55 or something, so I decided not to bet. It's weird, though, because my logic for RRing a weak river lead seems counterintuitive to my logic for check/check on the river. But not really - a check may be doing it for showdown value, while a bet greatly increases the chances of a bluff.

Any PP here might have the balls to make a call to a shove. I think playing the calling station here fine?

Edit:

If you jam over his 400 bet, what is calling you? You're 100% hoping to fold just A high, so you're risking an obscene amount of chips to win 400 when you're in a WA/WB situation. A call for showdown value where any low PP could pop up and beat you is fine. It's not like PP is ever out of his range this hand.

Serious?
Villain NEVER bets 400 into a 1500 pot with an Ace or King! A thinking player with Ax would c/c a small bet by hero but never lead this weak. The thing is that you are getting so good odds on the call that you have to take it in case villain made a stupid play (getting almost 5:1).

If he made a stupid play (betting weak with A/K high) he is going to fold anyway to a shove .. but if he made a value bet, he instacalls you.

This is a value bet way more often than a bluff, making a shove -EV IMO.

WA/WB = Way Ahead / Way Behind. A situation in which you are either a big favorite or a big underdog. In these situations, the best play is usually to check.

FOS = Full of [censored]. Meaning he is bluffing or thinks we are bluffing.

I disagree. I think a FH would bet more than 400 trying to get paid off. The small bets (400 into 1500) seems much more likely to be a blocking bet trying to get to showdown cheaply with A high or a low PP. Shoving gets A high to fold (which we're splitting with) and probably gets small PP like 44, 55 to fold.
