Default breakfast

Just curious what people here tend to do for breakfast. For years, I've basically followed this routine:

(1) When I work at the office, I have a fairly large serving of fruit;
(2) When home, I generally have 1-2 bowls of cereal with skim milk (perhaps Basic Four, or something similar).

Occasionally, I'll deviate with a bagel, or egg on a bagel.

But increasingly, I'm getting bored with my breakfasts. And I'm not so sure that so much fruit is a good idea. Still, I definitely don't want to go the way of muffins and the like.

What do you guys do? Is anyone not really bored with their breakfast after a while?

I'm especially curious to hear about ideas for those, like me, who would prefer to slim down a bit.

4 egg whites, 1 whole egg, lots of spinach, some tomato, some green chiles, some salsa = omelette or scramble,

standard breakfast on workout days = above mixture + oatmeal + apple...

on days i don't workout = no oatmeal...my breakfast is also my post workout solid meal...

I am cutting. I'd like to lose about 5-10 pounds.

By the way, a limitation I have is that, when I come to the office (4 days a week usually), it's not that easy for me to prepare something myself, which is why I usually pick up a container of fruit. I've got a feeling that this thread is going to encourage me to do the preparation myself, though.

Thirddan, do you buy one of those tubs of pure egg whites? If so, what's a good price for that? I've found that eggs simply aren't a very cost effective source of protein. Maybe I need to shop around for a good deal.

My breakfast usually contains a glass of milk with a scoop of whey protein. Then some carbs, either a bunch of fruit, toast, oatmeal, yogurt, or some combination. Smoothies sometimes.

deth, i buy a box of cartons from costco, i think it has 6 or 8 cartons with 8 eggs per carton...i think its like 11 bucks or something from costco...if you have to buy egg whites at the super market they are really expensive...

if you can handle the calories its prob cheaper to just use whole eggs...

Something like this if I have time to sit down. Otherwise, some variation of a fruit/oatmeal smoothie- today it was strawberry, banana, blueberry.

Isn't too much spinach bad for your kidneys or something?

I'm pretty sure there's something in it that isn't so hot for your kidneys, in large amounts. Not like laboratory large, more like a couple or few pounds a week large, I think. Don't remember the particulars. I think maybe it increases the chance of stones or something? Eh, can't recall.
