Default Late in $10MTT. Not ITM, re-raised w 88

Golden Palace No-Limit Hold'em, $10MTT(9 handed)
Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

This hand is funny. After the tourny was over, I watched Poker After Dark and Phil Helmuth had to make the SAME decision vs Phil Lak and he folded. The action went like this. Phil L. limped with AKd, Antonio called, Helmuth raised, Lak re-raised, Helmuth thought forever, said he had the best hand and folded. But that was four handed and winner take all.

Top 18 get paid. 44/139 remain. I am 16th. Only real money at the final table.

NO READS ON VILLIAN. He was just moved to this table 2 hands before and it is the first hand he played.

Blinds 600/1200

UTG (t18000)
UTG+1 (t1450)
MP1 (t5000)
MP2 (t47900)
MP3 (t3600)
HERO (t23000)
Button (35590)
SB (8500)
BB (15500)

Preflop:
Hero is CO with 8 8.

5 folds , HERO raises to 3500, Button raises ALL-IN 35590, SB folds, BB folds
Button wasted NO time raising all-in. It was instant.

HERO?

With no info on villian I would fold here.
Pot odds are poor, keep your 16BB's and find a better use for them.

I'd fold as well but now your M is getting some-what low so sooner or later you're going to need to pick a spot and try to double up.

I always put villain on AK here and always call. I'll let you know after it's happened a thousand times how I'm doing.

It's certainly the first thing that springs to mind but wouldn't TT & JJ shove fairly quickly here aswell?

I think this is a call without reads except the quick bet. You are putting in about 42% of the money and probably better than that versus villain's range. It looks like AK, plus it could be a resteal.

Easy fold for me. Best case scenario is you have a coinflip (unless you think he'd put all his chips in with 77 or a lower PP, which is possible, but less likely), and I would think I'm good enough to be able to fold that hand and win the chips back later. Even if you make the right read, and he has AQ or something, there's still a damn good chance you're out of the tournament.
