I'd say the odds of Doyle having shot a man are about 3:1 for. Road gambling back in the day was risky and sometimes guns were involved. Hell, Johnny Moss shot a guy in the ass. If Doyle played 40-80 against some midwestern businessmen, it was probably 1953, back when $80 was a lot of money. Have Doyle and Chip hustled millions of dollars from people over the years in the games they've set up, perhaps even colluding (or more) in the process? Yes, of course. Would the OP be a favorite against Doyle in a HU match, totally on the square? No, not even with Doyle being 117 years old this December.

Regardless of all that, Doyle has done as much as anyone to advance the game of poker. He has profited off of this, to be sure, but so have a lot of the rest of us. In summation:
