Andy LaRoche is the one that I wanna see now. Last year he posted an OPS of 924 over two levels and this year at AAA he is batting 310/395/599. He has been absolutely destroying lefties, 384/400/822 over 73ab. In his brief callup this year he went 211/436/263 over 38ab, which I think is kind of funny.

Justin Upton is a single away from the cycle tonight against the Pirates, with another at bat to come. After tripling, then homering, he doubled in the 7th inning. Of course he immediately got caught off base when Jason Bay reached over the fence and pulled back a homer, so he's still a rookie. A rookie hitting .400 something with 5 or 6 extra base hits in his first week.

Pretty awesome how he turned that double into a triple. This is exciting stuff to watch.

Damn I thought he had it up the middle there. Stupid rookie can't even hit for the cycle.

Oh well, he's only hitting .412/.412/.882 for a 1.294 OPS. I'm slightly disturbed at his lack of plate discipline, instead of taking walks he insists on hitting everything to the wall

My line for the first 50 PA of my amateur league was something like .400/.410/.800. When criticized by my sabermetric-friendly friends about never walking, I told them that if they're going to throw fastballs down the middle of the plate, I'm not [censored] walking.

Most rookies get this kind of treatment, heh. Justin Upton is one of the few that severely punishes them right off the bat. He is something else.

He's certainly seems ready from the hitting perspective, but we all know he's going to cool off and struggle at some point. My real worry is that he's made a ton of dumb mistakes in just one week. I wonder if rushing him is going to hurt his development in doing the "little things", i.e. hitting the cut off man, not getting doubled off second on a ball hit to the top of the wall, etc.

Justin Upton is tearing my fantasy league apart. I might bet 20 bucks back, it's awesome.
