Re: LOL parents
[ QUOTE ]
Yeah nothing makes me feel better than getting home at like 10am when I lose 5k+ after a painful 15+ hour session of poo flinging than having my dad ask me "HEY DID YOU WIN ENOUGH FOR ME TO RETIRE HURHURURURURUR NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I ASK THE SAME STUPID QUESTION I'LL STILL LAUGH AT MY OWN JOKE" when all I want to do is crawl into bed and waking up at 6pm to go out and play again. I really don't know if my dad is retarded or what, because I know that he knows $5000 is a lot of money, and I don't see what's so funny about gambling and winning/losing that much pretty regularly. I guess I must have some kind of magical invisible clown outfit that only he can see when I get home from the casino that makes everything so amusing to him. I don't ask my dad how much he makes at his job, then again I also don't [censored] care because it's none of my business. I should just say I lost like 10k every time, especially since that seems to fit pretty well with my most recent sessions anyway. [/ QUOTE ] pay for his rent, pay for the food he eats, he probably pays for your health insurance as well as your car, when you cover those expenses for him, then you can ask him what he makes a day at his job? until you are supporting yourself under your own roof, you have zero leg to stand on |

Re: LOL parents
I don't see your point. I don't care how much he makes, I want him to not ask how much I won or lost. My mom doesn't pay for all the same things I don't pay for, in fact I pay for a lot more of my stuff than she does and he doesn't ask her how much she makes.
Then again asking my mom anything is like talking to the [censored] Riddler so I can't blame him. |

Re: LOL parents
It's rare I tell my parents how I do anymore, since I've been completely independent of them for 10+ years. And it's mosstly a hobby for me as opposed to a job, but it's still nice money on the side. But if they ask I'll just give them an "up a little" or "down a little" depending on if I won or lost when they ask.
In January, I took $100K+ in a tourney though, which was like 10x my previous biggest score, so I thought I'd call and tell them the news. My parents are the typical "don't get it" type, so I thought this might validate poker a little bit in their eyes. The very first words out of my mom's mouth - "So now you can stop playing?" *Sigh* |
