Default Re: Borgata LO8 - 75/150?

5K is plenty to sit with if the game goes off at 75/150. It's not as aggressive as the 100/200 game and it's rare that the 75 game will be played with a kill/half kill.

There really is no 1 set limit that goes off on a regular basis. It used to be either 80/160 (sometimes with a kill, sometimes not) and a 300/600 game. Now, it's either 75/150, 80/160, 100/200, 150/300, 200/400. All depends on who's in the room.

All the limits will have a lot of dumb aggression (TX is spot on with that) but from my experience, the 75 game is the easiest of all to beat. I've watched the higher O8 games in the room and the hands that get shown down are just sick. Players raising/capping with KKxx like it's a holdem game. My stomach (and my BR) aren't ready for that just yet. The thing is, everyone playes like that so maybe it balances out...? Who knows.

Thanks for all the responses everybody...

TX, that's what I heard about live games from talking to people in the casinos...They said the mid-stakes games (10/20-20/40) are the tight solid ones while the 40-80+ games are the ones to be in because of the few rich nits and people who have no clue...

I understand what you are saying about variance and stuff, didn't really cross my mind that it could get that bad (stupid ass me, I know)...Might take it easy on playing this high because I don't think I could manage to piss away 1-2 weeks worth online taking my shot at a game I'm probably a dog in...

Howz, that sounds TOO GOOD to be true!!!

I'm only going to be there next weekend and I'll be there with non-poker people so I most likely won't get to play a lot of poker, but I just wanted to see what the consensus was for the LO8 there...

in a 75/150 game with a kill (100/200) you can expect to have $5000 swings one way or the other fairly often. i.e., i played a 17 hour session my last day in Vegas and by the middle of the morning the game had taken on a feverish pace with multiple raises and pots contested multiway, and throughout that session I was $5000 ahead or $5000 behind multiple times. I think that on average, if you sit with $5000 you'll be fine, but dont be surprised if you play well and go broke, as it is possible, as is playing well and being $10,000 winnner.

I usually take $15,000 if I'm going to play the game for any length of time, i.e., more than three days.

All of this is QFT, and I'll just add that IMO the play is worse than 15/30 at PS. Very, very terrible overagg players, with maybe one actual good O8 player, and a bunch of probably-decent high stakes Limit Holdem players who suck at LO8. Then a couple of random suckers thrown in. That said, I dropped 8K last time I played it, and really didn't run all that bad (just a fair number of monster flops that didn't get there/hold up under the standard 4-way capfests).

IMO this is a GREAT game, as long as you can afford a buy-in (5K seems like a good number to take a shot with).
