Personally I've had a few of these, back in the day of PL 8 on UB. But I've found more often than not, they were just doing things that worked well vs me. I think playing against these type of players is very good for improving your game. Usually it's an agressive player too.. which is obviously going to magnify your swings so you are much more likely to notice since you're usually playing big pots.

IMNSHO this might be the bottom line for you in this thread. Maybe as part of cracking this particular villain's "code" you need to know ahead of time that he would either fold, c/c, etc. on a turn that is safe for you. It at least seems likely that this would enable you to be more confident in making your flop decisions in these spots.
