Why did he drop his arm? [/ QUOTE ] Probably didn't think Gonzaga could throw a RHK, so he defended the body...and got tagged. |

Wow. That ranks among the most brutal KOs I've ever seen. Possible the most brutal. Cro Cop looked flat from the very beginning. I hope he is not seriously injured, but he could easily have ligament damage and he won't be able to fight for quite some time after such a brutal knockout. [/ QUOTE ] It looked like Cro Cop didn't take this fight very seriously. Not training in the cage probably hurt him a ton. Did he even train against elbows? I hope he learns fast and keeps fighting. |

[ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] Why did he drop his arm? [/ QUOTE ] He was expecting a middle kick, I guess. It is strange that his brain misread Gonzaga's posture, though--it looks like a high kick all the way. |

Re: UFC 70 - Free on SpikeTV
it looks like gonzaga was looking low, faking a body kick, so cro cop dropped his arm to protect his ribs.

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, for sure. A few solid elbows to the cranium will tend to do that, though. |

Re: UFC 70 - Free on SpikeTV

FWIW, I wonder if serious bonus money attached to ending the fight would be more incentive than a card penalization system. Say, $50K for a ko/tko/submission in the first round, $25K in the 2nd, $10k in the third. Or do they already have some incentive like this? [/ QUOTE ] I'm pretty sure that Dana White gives 15k bonus money to the fighter that ends the fight quick. He also has contests for 'Best Knockout', 'Best submission', and 'quickest fight', where he gives 15k bonus also. So he definately tries to give some incentive to end the fight quicker with fighters. |

Re: UFC 70 - Free on SpikeTV
I can pinpoint the moment CroCop lost the fight: picking Duran Duran as his entrance music.
Seriously though, I haven't seen CroCop look this bad since the Fedor fight. I can't even remember the last time he was taken down, but Gonzaga did it fairly easily. I think that mid kick was also the only blow CroCop landed. Also, LOL at the announcers for calling CroCop an aggressive fighter (they did this during the Arlovski fight). He's always been a counter-puncher, not a "go after the other guy" type fighter. To remind everyone how good CroCop's takedown defense can be, here's CroCop versus Mark Coleman: http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/sea...oleman-pride-29 |

[ QUOTE ] I don't know why they use the 10 pt must system. [/ QUOTE ] I believe that this is because the judges are selected from a pool of boxing judges by the athletic commissions. [/ QUOTE ] Close. It's required for licensing I believe. |
