calling here is one of those things that is probably not better at all but makes a player much more difficult to play against

[/ QUOTE ]

lol? or are you serious?

[/ QUOTE ]

yes i'm serious. check/calling in this spot with a wide range will confuse the opponent a great deal, but unless you know your opponent is a lagtard, he'll check behind a lot of turns and you'll miss value on the hands that beat his range. however, if your opponent is smart, he'll put you on an 8, a 9, or a flush draw or straight draw, and bet turn accordingly - usually as a bluff, and you can often call and win with these hands that could not two barrel for value.

what am i missing? haven't you ever heard of making your range/hand obvious against an aggro opponent to get him to bluff at it?

make sure not to think about your game along the way - i suggest 12 tabling, that way you don't have to

As played is good but I like the turn check with the intent of calling a river bet. A turn check will not give him the option of CRAI in the case he does have you beat, with a nine, AA, AK, etc. By checking the turn it could induce a bluff on the river by hands you have beat, or could help keep the pot small if you were crushed to begin with. His range is so wide and he could CRAI with a number of hands on the turn

what do you think of my line? reasonable?

edit: also proof of TWP Theorem - the worse they play, the more they win.

Well I liked how you started out. But I probably would've folded to the turn check-raise. I assume you called hoping for a free showdown, no? As for river, I know there is an enormous amount of money in the pot, but he really can't be bluffing given action and the board can he?

uh, did you read the post? the turn check/raise was all-in so there was no river action and yes i was pretty sure i was going to get a 'free showdown' by putting in my whole stack on the turn.

Gee golly willickers! lol. Sorry dude.

In that case, after you bet turn, I like the call, as draws are a big part of his range imo. That being said, i'd probably have checked the turn. Good thread though.

didnt read responses - ck turn - if he had any draw he's either bet3 betting flop ot c/ring all in. i may fold ace river if he bets but i dunno - i call pretty much everything else - maybe queen i fold MAYBE TWP. i think your line rules if you ck tuen and looks completely fos giving you action you shouldnt get on a lot of rivers whether you are betting or calling.
