Keller Williams is the king of the whole looping thing if you ask me. I don't particularly care for his music, but he simulates an entire band using looping and it's pretty impressive. His technical setup is pretty insane. Here's a link to his page : http://www.kellerwilliams.net/intern...tion.gear.html

The looping thing has gotten bigger because it's really easy to do and makes your typical solo singer-songwriter thing more interesting/entertaining. I think people think it's harder than it actually is.

I haven't seen him mentioned, but Andrew Bird is a beast. He loops himslf plucking or bowing his fiddle and it's awesome. Also, he is the best whistler in the world (quite possibly true).

Andrew Bird looks interesting...

If you ever get the chance to see That One Guy don't miss him. He plays an intrument that he built... it's some sort of huge pipe with all sorts of knobs and buttons and strings attached. I really have no idea how he plays this thing but it's really creative. Here's a youtube clip of him. It starts getting cool toward the end...

I have a friend who loops his beat boxing and guitar. When done right, it can sound amazing. He's built a pretty strong following in the UK.
