any fantasy league allowing this kind of thing would almost certainly be terrible

I've found that trading future picks should be limited to the offseason. If it's a keeper league and you trade for a keeper, that's different. Money should never be involved. Your team isn't that bad. You must be new to fantasy football, because in an H2H league, anything can happen in the postseason.

If its legal to trade guys for picks and/or cash than you have every right to do so.

The only real downside is when the other owners realize how good your team will be and decide to change the rules next year.

how can 3-5 be last place... and if it is that means there should be a lot of teams with 4 or 5 wins

Trading picks and stuff like that is fine, especially if you are in a keeper or dynasty league.

I don't like involving $$$ exchanging hands. Maybe he could offer to cover your next 4-5 transactions so at least its making its way back into the pot or something. I could see situations like "well its just $20, I want to beat these guys pretty bad whatever it takes" or stupid crap like that.

By the way, maybe you are in an 8-team league or something where everyone's team is loaded, but why are you hitting the panic button? Especially at 3-5?

I'm in a 10 team league, and I'm hitting the panic button because I'm last in points, power rankings, and several other factors and it's pretty clear I'm not going to win in a winner take all league.

If this is a yearly league, I would have no problem trading picks as it helps you next year, but I've never seen the money thing. Again, if this were somehow going to the prize pool it would be fine, but you're basically marginally helping yourself next year and otherwise tanking, which I don't like

The funny thing is these guys are worried about the picks more than the side money.

OBV. The side money doesn't affect next season like the picks do.

Trading future picks should only be allowed if agreed upon before the season. Allowing someone to do this without a rule in place ruins all credibility of the league. Though it doesn't sound like there was much to begin with.

If has to be a keeper league, otherwise people will just sell off everybody when they are eliminated mathematically.
