1. I have been coached by fsuplayer. I also live with two other professional players and discuss poker non-stop with them. I have also done some coaching myself back in my limit days.

2. Right now a lot of my profit comes from game selection and I believe this luxury will not always be available so I want to be able to beat 5/10+ even in tougher games on tougher sites.

3. Current stakes are 5/10-50/100 NL and 50/100-100/200 lhe.
Majority of hands are at 5/10 and 10/20 NL. Past earnings are a few hundred K.

4. I used to make strat posts in the short handed limit forum all the time, but have not felt confident enough in my NL game to make posts in HSNL until very recently so I don't really have any yet.

5. I graduated from the univ. san diego in may and am playing poker until either the games dry up or I find something more worthwhile/profitable to put my time and energy into. Since turning pro about 5 months ago I have probably averaged at least 5 hrs per day.

Im a 10/20 NL player.. do you work with people that want to move from 10/20 NL to like 50/100 NL?

[/ QUOTE ]

This is my question as well, he said hes not gonna be back till tommorow though so I think im just gonna do an application anyways.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think i really have that much to offer the guys already beating 10/20 nl. I've beaten 25/50 nl over a few ten thousand hands but i've always cherry picked it.

What i think would be beneficial to us all though would be if i took an extra 3 to 5 5/10 - 10/20 nl players who don't want to be mentors and we helped each other by trading videos and posting hands together and then made these videos and discussions open to the other students. If you guys are up for that that would be great.

1) I have been trying to watch as many free videos as possible available here at 2+2. I learn best by observing and it seems that in order to get my gears rolling on my own I need someone to show me the way. That is not to say that I am not capable of thinking on my own. I’ve been maintaining a site that I try to update pretty frequently with free videos that 2+2ers have posted which has helped me in my growth as a poker player. After each session I do a review and will occasionally post a hand that I need help with. I also enjoy reading poker books/articles.

2) I would like to see myself playing small stakes as a side income in the near future. I would like to feel a lot more grounded in my ability to sit down in any game and play solid poker without fear of losing or making a mistake (these two things really affect my play as I am always more concerned about them rather than focusing on making good decisions). Learn how to deal with breakeven/downswing stretches. Get stronger psychologically during those times.

3) I am currently playing NL25 shorthanded and seriously considering moving up to NL50 by taking shots here and there. I jumped into NL with a $100 deposit at PokerStars in March ’07 and since then turned that into $2,000 (includes bonuses).

4) I don’t think my posts in the strategy forums are that enlightening but I think my strategy to junk post ratio is not too bad. Some recent hands I posted: 1 2 3
(I am under impression you want solid strategy discussion type of posts rather than the mundane, so you can disregard these)

5) I have a full time job and am married. I am in my late late 20s. My wife has a busy schedule and is very supportive of my hobby. I originally deposited $30 to play limit poker in October of ’05 and was pretty successful by turning that into $1500. However, with UIGEA and Neteller troubles had to cash out and take a break until March ’07 when I started playing NL. I am pretty computer savvy (work in IT) and running a website is my second nature.

6) I have played 690 hours since June but I never play more than 4 tables and only get around 12-14K hands a month.

1) I play 1k hands a day. I talk to other pros about certain hands.
2) Learn, then crush, HUSH NL
3) High stakes; I posted a million dollar graph in BBV, thats all I'm saying.
4) Cant quite provide that
5) I really desire to play HUSH NL, but as of yet have not tried it on for size. I am a higher stakes limit player. I have played a million hands of HUSH LHE, and I want to learn another game. I'm willing to work at it w/a genuinely good player, and I feel that I can contribute to such an effort.

I'm not exactly what you are looking for but I would love to do this so I'll try anyway.

1. I'm currently in the middle of several poker books, am a member of Stox Poker, browse several strategy forums daily, and have a few people that I review hands with outside of forums.

2. I've had major problems with tilt/bad bankroll management in the past and it made life miserable. My goals these days are to make as much low stress money as possible to set myself up for the future. I've always said that I dont plan on playing for the rest of my life...heck even for more then a few years. However, I'm not sure that Ill ever totally stop. So I plan on playing until I find something I'm more passionate about.

Right now I'm finding out that by learning games other than LHE I can be more attentive and interested. NLHE is a game I would love to learn but have always had a hard time playing anything other than limit.

3. Current stakes are 5/10-15/30 LHE, 5/10-25/50 L08, a little bit of 2/4-3/6 NL, and a little bit of 1/2-3/6 PLO. Past earnings are probably around 250,000. Almost all at LHE. There is probably another 250,000 or so that I've blown playing games/limits that I had no buisness being in....like I said, Ive had problems.

4. I've been an on and off poster in MHSH over the past few years, as well as MTT a little before that. Nothing totally ground breaking theory wise that I have posted though. My best attempt that I can recall and dig up is probably this.

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...rue#Post7703282

I've always felt a little like I've been shot down whenever I try and post something a little different than the "2p2 Standard" so to speak, combine that with the fact that I can't always explain why I think a course of action is best and it probably leaves me a little lite in this department.

That was the only thread I can recall starting of any signifigance (if it was even that). However if you would like me to find a few of my replies Id be hapoy to do that.

5. I'm 22 years old and have been making my living playing cards full time for over a year now...part time as a student before that.

Dropped out of school two summers ago to pursue a buisness idea(which I naively thought was a shoe in) and play some poker. I lacked direction and was just wasting money there. Always said I'd go back if need be but at this point I don't see that happening. Needless to say the buisness idea went down the tubes when Facebook started doing it. Vague plan is poker until I find another buisness idea that I'm excited about. Ive entertained thoughts of opening a bike/ski shop in a couple of years when my fiance and I move out west, however that is still up in the air.

I'm not exactly a computer guy but I did learn a little working on my website and have a younger brother who is more than capable, and I'm sure wouldn't mind helping a bit. I would also be willing to learn what I can.

Think thats about it. Like I said, I'm not exactly what you described however I would be very interested in participating.

Thanks,
Evan

This sounds like a great opportunity and I match all the criteria, so I might as well give it a shot!

1. I've always been very studious when it comes to poker. I have watched probably almost every Cardrunners video, and I subscribed to Leggopoker as soon as they opened. I post/read ssnl and msnl on a daily basis. I have several msn buddies who I've met through 2p2, and I'm constantly bugging them to discuss poker with me . I also consistently review my sessions and consider other ways I could/should have played certain hands.

2. I have a few poker goals currently:
-move up to 3/6 within the next 2 monthes
-open up my game and play more hands per month
-learn HU!

eventually I hope to crush midstakes at the sites I play at. I'm sure this is achievable given the quality of the games I play in, and the progress I've made over the past year.

3. I currently play 400NL with some 600NL when I'm feeling good and the game is good. Over my first 100k hands at midstakes, I have made at over 5ptbb/100. Over ~200k hands of 200NL I made ~4ptbb/100. Over ~60k hands of 100NL I made ~6ptbb/100. This is all in 2007 (when I started playing No-Limit). Last year I played up to 5/10 6max LHE but I never had great sucess at limit.

4. I don't have any big, indepth posts but I do think I generally explain my thoughts clearly. Here are a couple recent examples:
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...ue#Post13001688
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...ue#Post12463485

those may not be good examples, but 99% of my posts have been in strat forums. I try.

5. I am a 21 y/o Economics student. I am currently taking a fairly light course-load at school to allow for me to play lots of poker. I enjoy learning/discussing poker even more than I enjoy playing! (it's close).

Hi Jay. I like this idea and I'd be interested in both being mentored by you and in mentoring some students myself. I'd be qualified to mentor limit hold'em players.

Here are my answers to the questions posed in your first few posts:

1. How you are currently improving your game?

Lots of ways. I play 2 or maybe 3 tables at a time at most. Oftentimes I'll just play in one game so I can focus on what mistakes I identify that my opponents are making and how I can best benefit from them. I also take my time and think about each action before making it rather than clicking away lightning fast.
Away from the table I'm always doing a line analyses. I'll make some assumptions about how my opponent will respond with different holdings and hack away at finding the most profitable line by just writing it all out case by case. I also run a lot of simulations on pokerstove and some of the propokertools softwares to get an idea of equity of certains with certain boards.
I always have a poker book sitting in my bathroom My current poker rereading is The Mathematics of Poker.

2. Your poker goals.

I'd like to be an established winner at online 5/10 NL over a sample of 100k hands by the end of March in both short handed and heads up play. I'd also like to be an established winner at up through 200/400 heads up and short handed limit hold'em by the same time.

3. Your current stakes and past earnings

Later you also asked how many hours and what earnings I've made in the last 5 months so I'll answer that here. I estimate I have played 600 hours and profited $40k. Most of that time was spent grinding out a roll at my best game which is short-handed and heads-up limit hold'em. I am interested in making NL my main game for the coming months as it needs much more work. Currently I'm uncomfortable playing against mediocre players at 2/4 NL 6max and am fine with playing most tables I find of 1/2 NL 6max.

4. A few examples of good strategy posts you have made.

I don't post often. Usually when I think to post I first do some work on my own and end up answering my questions without a post. Most of my posts are strategy though as you'll see if you look.

5. A little about yourself.

I'm 27 years old and a few weeks a way from finishing my Ph.D. in mathematics at Georgia Tech. I'd probably be considered a bit of a party animal (or a drunk, idk) by my friends but keep in mind one of the things I like most is sharing what I like with other people.
In January I'm heading to India to experience life in a new culture and I don't know if/when I'll be coming back to the U.S. While abroad I plan on supporting myself by playing online poker and finally spending a good amount of effort in really studying poker in a way that my schooling has prevented me to do yet.
I'm fortunate to have the training to be able to study the game in a deep, mathematical way.
I love women.
I love sports.
I love life.

Feel free to ask me any questions and thanks for your consideration.

-Bill

I'm Interested.

1. I only started playing poker seriously at the start of this year but my game has already come leaps and bounds since then. I started of playing live at the casino down here, where I met a bunch of other poker junkies my age who I have since become good friends with and we constantly talk about poker and once a month run home games in which we analyze the hands that we play. I started taking online poker seriously about 3 months ago and that's when I joined 2p2 seriously. I have a fair few people on AIM from 2p2 that I constantly talk poker with in which we analyze hands and talk general strat/[censored] lol.

2. Goals in poker:
- Move up to 1/2 by feb next year and start making some decent money whilst at university.
- Become good at heads up cash games.

Then by mid-late nextyear be playign and crushing 2/4 on a regular basis.

3. I currently play 50NL and 100NL (depending on what mood im in), I also dabble in some 100NL H-U and have done quiet ok at it but my sample size is to small in the HU to determine whether I am a winning player at HU.

Anyway, I started 3 months ago at 25NL and beat it at about 9bb/100 over like 20k hands. Then I moved up to 50NL which is were I have been for the past two months, I'm currently beating it for 6bb/100 over a 60k sample size. This month I moved up to 100NL where I ran poor as [censored] for the first few sessions but have since found my own. Where I am at 5bb/100 over about 7k hands.

edit: I made 500 in my first month at 25NL, then in my second month I made 1k at 50NL along with a tournament score of 1.5k and some random PLO here and there which took my avg for the month to just under 3k. This month I am on track for 1.5k+.

This comes along with a solid winner at the 1/2 and 2/3 games at the casino , in which I have put up countless of hours. I also had some decent tournament scores there, pm if you want to see my hendon mob.

I play max 4 tables because I find I have good awareness of the players and if I play 6 tables I simply loose my edge. The first month of internet poker I played 20k hands, last month was 30k and this month I am on course for 30k+ probably somewhere around the 35k-40k mark. I am a player who much prefers to play short sessions say 3-4 300hand sessions in a day I find that way my concentration is better and I don't get impatient or frustrated.

4. I am a regular poster in the NLHE Micro section, posting and discussing hands, I try my best to make as many posts there as I can, I think my general hand discussion is good.

5. I am 20 year old Chemical Engineering student who took the last 6 months of university simply because I needed a break from it.I'll be back next year but in the first semester my course load will be fairly light. I also have skype/msn everything and am very capable with technology, so that will not be a problem. I also lived in Germany and France for a good portion of my life and love to play/watch football (soccer) and just generally spend time with my friends, oh and play da pocka.
