Default Re: PLO8 $100: Ingenius or stupid shove

Thing is though, if we put BB on the nut straight and UTG on the nut flush draw, then our equity in the main pot is not so good, but we can probably make up for it by playing a sidepot against UTG. For example, if I give BB 6789 and UTG AA35 suited in diamonds, we have 29% equity in the main pot (expectation about -$6), but our equity in a sidepot with UTG is 55% (expectation like +$8). Granted, we don't know what opponents have with certainty, but I think we're far enough ahead of UTG's range that building the sidepot makes sense. Also, if he has the NFD but with only a backdoor low (say he has A2LL in diamonds), then the reraise either cleans up our flush outs or else gives us a sidepot where we have a huge equity edge.
