Default Beef\'s (Befolder) Spirit Mountain TR

Day 1:
So I guess we're having a going out of business sale on TR's this week w/ BBB and Ozi hitting them up. Mine will likely be the dryest and worst of them, but I'll ante up anynow.

The fiance and kids were all camping at Girlscout camp this weekend, which meant I could do pretty much whatever the f**k I wanted, so I did.

On the rare occassion that I have one of these solo Fridays, I typically head north or south to one of the equidistant Native American casinos here in Oregon. We all know how much I like to support the real founders of this country by supplying rake payments for the impending Choktaw (sp), Sioux, Siletz, etc. They need money for the upcoming revolution. Beef's tip of the day: Move out of the country by February 13th, 2015. It's coming my friends.

Okay, now that the random ridiculous from resident white boy is out of the way, lets continue with more random reporting.

I decided to take the less traveled northern route of one road highways to the reservation. Friday afternoon traffic and one lane of traffic equals speeds of less than the 70 MPH I was hoping to travel. It does make for some fun one lane passing on straights into oncoming traffic. The drive home was much smoother since it was far quieter. There is a more interstate route which is longer (distance), but higher speeds.

So I arrive, hit the restroom to deplete my body of 'hand missing' bathroom breaks and the last of my antibiotics.

I just finished up a batch that I got from my dentist for my wisdom teeth. Bastards are finally giving me trouble and will likely be removed.

The odd thing about the penicillin is that it makes your urine smell like the tablet itself. The first few days, I just thought the bathrooms at work always smelled weird. It took a couple of days to put the connection together that it was me.

So I signed up for 2/4, 3/6 and 4/8 lists intending to end up in the 4/8 game which is higher than I've played, but I felt more than comfortable knowing how truly awful live game players are.

I had a couple of good days online leading up to it as well so confidence was high. I'd been using Guruman's hide my stack method and planned on doing the same here. It's better if I don't know how much down or up I am, then I can just concentrate on the decision at hand.

Got a seat immediately at the horrendously raked 2/4 game while I waited to be seated at 4/8. I got about 20 minutes there and lost $30 of my original buy in before getting the move to 4/8.

The only memorable hand at 2/4 was my first hand dealt. It was AK of spades and I raised somewhere in middle position and of course the whole table gasped at the new guy jumping in and raising to the mind numbing sum of $4. The very old BB made it three bets and the guy next to me made a comment about he must have good cards. I just called in position even when my modus operandi would be to cap. Old dudes aren't fond of treying w/o spectacular hands first off so I thought I'd try to catch the remaining ace so I could lose more money to what was very easily KK or AA. I called a flop and turn bet missing and folded the river. Of course he wanted to show his aces to everyone and did. There was no reason to call the turn, but all the 6 max I've been playing lately made me want to show the hand down, but I wised up and remembered where I was by the river.

Oh, I forgot to mention that this kill game was a kill game, which I was excited about. If I can play higher stakes w/ these donkey, great.

Here is the table lineup as I remember, which isn't much after a few days to forget:

Seat 1: We'll call this guy Iron Lung because he looked like he was on life support. He reminded me of this guy from Poltergeist II

Seat 2: Old regular nit who was very tight.
Seat 3: Grumpy Reg. This guy was the one who always asked for rake reduction when we got down to six or less. However, I would have done the same cuz I hate getting screwed for full rake when we don't have to. He was there the whole time and was your typical good ol' boy.

Seat 4: n/a
Seat 5: EZ come, EZ go. EZ for short. It took me a while to get a good read on this guy. He was moderately aggressive and would go many bets post flop.
Seat 6: n/a
Seat 7: AWOL Asian, Awasian for short. The whole other side of the table couldn't stand this guy. It's not that he was annoying, he was just never there. He's play for an orbit, then leave for almost three and they were constantly complaining that they should pick him up. He'd always get back just before the third missed blind button. It was uncanny.
8: Befolder

I don't remember any other players unless they joined later.

I counted up what I brought from 2/4 which was only $70 left so I immediately bought another $80 so I wouldn't be short in a big kill pot should I hit hard.

Things started off poorly. I played really well, but things weren't going my way...at first. I stacked everything in uneven stacks of unknown sizes so I didn't know what I had.

Eventually when I looked like I was getting lower than I wanted, I topped off w/ another C-note. The chip runner came around and I just said, "The whole thing" like I was some kind of 4/8 balla. What a wannabe I was.

One of the hands that made me need to restack:
77 UTG, I limp, three others limp. Flop 992. I bet out thinking there is a good chance I am best, I get one caller in LP. It's EZ. Turn K, suits aren't important in this hand. I bet one more time and am ready to fold to a raise. EZ calls. Now I'm ready to either c/c or c/f the river depending on how I feel. River comes a beautiful 7 filling me up. I can't remember if a flush is now out. I bet out, EZ raises, I 3-bang, he ups it to 4 and now I start worring about K9, not so much 99, but over playing trip nines is certainly possible at these games so I go one more and he decides to just call. He shows the K9 and rakes the pot. I could have done w/o that river, but I'm alright w/ it. It's still early. I guess I can thank him for not making me call another bet w/ his 2nd nuts. Boat over boat is costly.

Later it's 3 limpers to me and I'm feeling good about my post flop play and discipline so I limp w/ 58[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]s OTB. Five to the flop of TT9, two [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]s. It's checked to me and I bet w/ the intention of checking thru the turn if I don't hit. EZ calls. The turn is a non [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. EZ checks, I check. The river is my spade, EZ bets and I raise. He calls w/ his trip Ts played horribly and I deservedly rake the pot.

Somewhere in here I rake in some nice kill pots, I put in $32 of chips on a raise on a turn which seems like a lot when the dealer says $32. I really didn't notice how much it was, I just say two bets until he said that. That was a good sign that I wasn't thinking about the money.

Revenge on EZ:
I'm in LP of some sort and there are 4 limpers to me, I raise TT knowing I probably won't get far unless I improve or get a raggy flop w/ this many in. Six or seven to the flop of T72 rainbow. Top set, not bad. Will I slowplay this. Hell no! I've got six customers in a huge pot that would love to see the turn w/ their overcards, gutshots and underpairs. Checked to me and I bet. Four callers including EZ. The turn: Q. I get raised by EZ who was OTB and we go five bets on the turn which I end up calling. I was remembering the K9 hand from earlier where I went too far. I felt much better about this hand because after an hour or so of play with him, I don't think he's cold calling w/ QQ from the button, but then again, old guys would so maybe he has some of that in him.

The river is a J, completing two straight that I was sure he didn't have by the way he was jamming the turn. Even though I stopped the action on the turn, I still felt like I was good and led out, he raised and I decided I'd better just call that one and flipped my set of Ts. He slowly rolled his 77 and was surprised. Lovely, [censored] that ginormous pot. Dealer, here's a balla two white chips. LOL!

I changed seats a couple times to get to the left of this new middle aged guy who was obviously a regular that was sucky loosey. I pretty much busted him when I was in a hand, value betting near everything on the river. MHsWG.

After he busted, EZ moved into his seat...to my right. WTF! Please put yourself in harms way. His stack grew early and he was almost to the felt when I left after we clashed many times.

I made a nice haul from that game to the tune of +$195. I stayed an extra 30 minutes over what I'd planned just because the game was good. We were shorthanded several times and I ran up the aggression to take advantage. It's nice to be comfortable in that game.

DONKEY HAND OF THE NIGHT. The biggest donkey in the game played this hand horrible. I was racking up to leave and am dealt my second to last hand in UTG1. 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. I call because I'm feeling good. A -EV play, even at this loose table. Four other callers. Flop comes xxx two spades. I check/call. The turn is a spade. I c/r, get one caller and bet the river after which I proudly turn over my 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

ROFL! I misread my hand. Somehow I saw two spades when I peaked. I was more surprised than anyone. It was easy to laugh off, but I was like WTF! Where did that club come from.

I cashed out, got rid of some more antibiotics and made the hour and a half cruise home.

Yeah, it's not a nickname I chose Tyler. Some of the guys from the last HULA started calling me that. I guess three syllables is too tough.

I'm just rolling w/ the punches.

Did you see the guy that looks exactly, and I mean exactly, like Sean Connery?

Also, you suck at organizing casino meet ups. Hint for next time: Give more than 7 minutes notice.

Nice report though.

He wasn't there this time or I was playing in a higher game and didn't look around.
