What to do when the table makes no sense.

Tell everyone they are being big meanies and you're only here to limp in preflop every hand and see the fop for $2 and no one is allowed to bluff and when they all laugh at you take your chips and go home. This is seriously the dumbest post of all time. If you can't figure out how to profit at this type of table, you should seriously stop playing poker.

Capone, the issue comes that when people play without strategy then yes, you can make good $ but it can also throw one off of their game when they start catching bs hands. For ex, a few times I would look down with AK, AQ or A10 for ex. Make a basic raise, get called and then the flop would come rags and the donk would lead out. But the fact is, they are playing trash so if i don't hit the board, I have to get out. It is easy if I was catching the cards, but when you are not then you have to take the temp of the table.
I guess I am thinking whether I should have pushed back harder.

If the game doesn't fit your style, find another. I like to play a lot of hands, so frequent 8 BB raises don't work for me. I much prefer the constant limpers who can't put down a pair/draw. If you can't find a loose/passive game, just tighten up against the LAGs or catch a movie.

I think you should play your game... And in terms of tightening up, I look at tightening up as making more solid hands than a high pocket pair before pushing, try making a hand that has a backbone instead of top pair top kicker.

IMO, that's my def. of playing tighter.... Making better hands before going apesh1t.

The Station is right. You have to alter your play based on the way the table is playing. My normal bring in raise in 1/2NL is 10-12. The game I was playing in last friday was so weak/tight that I was making smaller, more frequent raises, picking up a lot of small pots. The game I was in on Sunday was so loose/passive that I was raising AA/KK UTG to $30-$40, and still getting called in 2-4 spots.

Strategy #1 - this thread belongs in the beginers forum.

Strategy #2 - It has nothing to do with B&M topics. The table in question could easilly be an online table instead of a live table

Strategy #3 - I'm surprised with those of you who are B&M forum regulars, usually RR and I get notified about threads like this one so we can move them to the right forum. So sad [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]
