Apparently I wasn't clear in the OP... the surge protector isn't shot (I don't think). In fact, it says right now that's grounded and "Protection: On" and still powers up the TV, dvd, Wii, etc... It's the LCD TV itself that's busto now; I get audio but no video.

Most cheaper surge protectors (a $50 one from MC probably qualifies) use a "one time only" type surge protection device. After one surge, it'll be useless, but it works fairly well. This is 100% by design and they will replace it.

If it really tripped this, it likely just saved your TV and any other equipment connected to it from being fried.

I'm glad they're replacing the surge protector, but I'm less confident they'll actually replace my TV. And I don't know TVs, so how does what happened not qualify as "fried"?

SPB... gfy. Nobody could've posted this earlier because it's my story that just happened to me. If you're trying to tell me other 2p2ers have had similiar experiences, then go ahead and link me their stories.

Never had a claim w/ actual equipment damages. YMMV.

Also, re-read your OP and find where you said your TV is fried. It was more of a conversation where you sorta say what you mean, but assume we also know everything that's in your mind. Are you by chance a woman?

OneCall didn't sell anything other than Monster that I saw and burning up gift certificates was a better option than shelling out cash myself.

And yes tagtastic, I'm an incoherent donk BUT I'm really tilted so I have an excuse? I'd edit my OP if I could, sorry it was vague. So just to be clear: I'm pissed about a $950 tv, not a $50 surge protector.
