Re: Checkup: J8s from the BB
This hand looks good to me.
That is the way I would play the hand up to this point. I would now check the call box. |

Standard, no? Let MP3 take a shot at the pot with missed overs/flush draw instead of betting him off of it.

Re: Checkup: J8s from the BB
I agree with the way you played that hand.
On the flop, it is important to bet in case you have the best hand, since your hand is very vulnerable. On turn, the same idea apply, your hand is vulnerable and you have to bet, no one raised you on the flop, so your hand might be good. On the river, your hand is now much weaker. I guess I would check. Would I call a bet? I don't know. I think it is very close. I would be tempted to fold. Except against a known bluffer. |

Given the board and the way the hand has played, I think he could very easily have a worse hand than ours. |

Re: Checkup: J8s from the BB
You are probably right.
What hands do you think he would bluff with? |

You are probably right. What hands do you think he would bluff with? [/ QUOTE ] Something like K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] perhaps. He could hold a lot of things like that. An aggressive player might even value bet as little as AK or slightly better here when we check to him... We don't even know if MP3 is even a thinking, half-decent player. He could have absolutely anything. |

Re: Checkup: J8s from the BB
Ok, I agree. But, what if we change some parameters, suppose we are in the lead, same hand, but in late position, and the guy bet into us, what do you do?
(Here we have shown strength all the time, so a bluff is less likely) |

Re: Checkup: J8s from the BB
I think ace high calls this river often enough to make value betting > check/calling.

Re: Checkup: J8s from the BB
Bet it. Ax is relieved to take a free showdown but will likely call if you bet.
