Re: (109) Mid-game play, QQ gets c/r\'ed on a K-high flop
i would check behind the flop and i'm not being results oriented... it's my default play (in this situation) esp. on a board this dry.

[/ QUOTE ] i am being a little results oriented, it seems almost everytime i check behind in this spot villian will spew about 300 chips with some piece of crap hand. |

Re: (109) Mid-game play, QQ gets c/r\'ed on a K-high flop
I think the flop bet (w/ intention to b/f) almost turns our hand into a bluff. He may call with a few worse hands, but he will also likely call a small value bet later in the hand. Giving a free card with this board isn't so bad and invites bluffs as others have already said so I'd check.
Also isn't one main reason people raise 250-275 instead of 300 pf for pot control? It makes it easier to keep the pot smaller on flops like this (after checking behind on flop). |

What is your plan for the rest of the hand after checking behind? Are you calling as long as an ace doesn't come?

Re: (109) Mid-game play, QQ gets c/r\'ed on a K-high flop
Any way this hand goes from here on out sorta sucks. The best thing that can really happen is check-down and maybe get one small profitable call or valuebet in there on the turn or river depending on what happens to the board.
I don't think leading is horrible though and you can certainly justify it with a good read (e.g. villian is always set mining here). |

i certainly think a flop check behind is fine/standard also, but i dont expect to get c/r so much that betting is not profitable here.

Re: (109) Mid-game play, QQ gets c/r\'ed on a K-high flop
I think checking flop here is pretty standard, just because when you bet/fold here it takes away all value from your hand. You're rarely getting called by a better hand, so you basically have air.

[/ QUOTE ] I'd usually check the flop. |
